We are interested in the creative intersection between art and science. By presenting a new perspective, a new way of looking at scientific subjects, we hope to create a platform that is both inspirational and educational.

The 2nd annual Viten Filmfestival will be held early November 2017 at Cinemateket-USF in Bergen, Norway.

We are a science film festival that showcases international short and feature length films of all genres. Through film, we hope to inspire people with science.

We are looking for films of any genre that tell a scientific story, whether that be about a scientific subject, a scientist or the research process. All genres are welcome, documentary, fiction, educational, experimental, data visualisation, simulations, animation, live action or anything else you can dream of!

In addition, we are also looking for short science films for children. Our audience will mostly be Norwegian, so we would prefer films in the Norwegian language, or with no to minimum dialogue, or subtitles.

Submission Details:

We accept submissions in three categories: Shorts, Feature Films, or Children. Shorts may be up to 30 minutes in length. Feature Films are considered to be any film over 30 minutes in length.

All short films will be automatically entered into our Viewers Choice Award.

By submitting your films, you give Viten Filmfestival permission to screen your films at Viten Filmfestival 2017. If your film is accepted, we may use stills or video clips from your film in order to promote your film and market the film festival through online (vitenfilmfestival.no), social media or print. If we use your material for marketing, all proper credit will be given to the filmmaker. If you do not wish for us to use your material for marketing purposes, please contact us or indicate this in your submission. Any other screenings by Viten Filmfestival will require permission from the filmmaker. We look forward to seeing your films.
