“KYMATA” Film Festival is an international annual festival taking place on the island of Kefalonia, during the last week of August in the beautiful town of Argostoli, specifically at the Municipal Building Complex of Thalassomylos, located about 2 km from the center of Argostoli.
The festival began in 2022 and remains the only film festival on the Ionian Islands. It aspires to host the best films, from all around the world. “KYMATA” film Festival provide and preserve the space for independent filmmakers to create and present original, risk-taking and boundary-pushing works of cinematic art.
For its eight-day duration, the festival holds screenings of short films and special feature presentations, as well as parallel events such as workshops, masterclasses, music concerts and exhibitions.

The 3rd “KYMATA” International Film Festival will take place from 25 of August, to September 1st 2024 in Argostoli, Kefalonia.
Awards will be granted for the following categories:

Best International Short Fiction (1st, 2nd and 3rd prize) (1000 euro for the 1st winner)
Best International Short Documentary (1st prize)
Best International Short Music Documentary (1st prize)

In the category Best International short film a prize of 1.000 euro has offered from the Greek Film Centre for the 1st winner

Rules & Terms
The 3rd “KYMATA” International Film Festival will take place from August 25 to September 1st 2024 in Argostoli, Kefalonia.
The film submission period starts on the 3rd of January 2024 and ends on the 7th of July 2024. Qualified film-makers will be informed via e-mail by July 25, 2024.
No international premiere is required, though submitted films must have 2022, 2023 or 2024 as the year of production.
The final copy that will be screened in the KYMATA Film Festival should be available in: H264 /H265, mp4.
The ideal size of the archive should be about 2 to 3Gb.
Filmmakers participating in the 3th KYMATA Film Festival should agree to the screening of their film in a physical space (festival venue)
The festival holds the right to screen the films in non-profit events outside the festival as part of the festival promoting and development strategy, with the festival’s obligation to inform the filmmakers of the time and place of said screening.
All participants agree in delivering interviews and photo material to the festival’s Advertising Sponsors.

Non-Greek speaking films will be screened with Greek subtitles applied. Non-Greek speaking films that do not have embedded Greek subtitles must be sent without any subtitles, accompanied by a separate SRT file with the English subtitles. Greek movies will be screened with English subtitles.
The submitters of the films that will be accepted are requested to forward the subtitles to our e-mail address the soonest after they are informed of their participation and, in case the archive is not already available for downloading, to open it as soon as possible so that the festival will have enough time to prepare for any technical process necessary.
All movie submissions must include:
- Poster
- Film stills
- Director's photo
- Film synopsis
- Short director's bio
- SRT timecoded dialogue file (films that do not include or provide SRT dialogue file by July 10, 2024 the latest, will be automatically NOT SELECTED)
A trailer with English subtitles should be sent along with a full press kit (film stills, summary, cast & crew, etc.) for promotional purposes.
KYMATA Film Festival has the right to use the trailers or parts of the participating films for promotional purposes.
