Conch Shell International Film Fest (CSIFF) is an online film festival which promotes films and screenplays by artists from the Caribbean and the Caribbean Diaspora, presented by New York City-based, Conch Shell Productions. Conch Shell International Film Fest champions and celebrate the unique voices of artists of the Caribbean Diaspora and in the Caribbean.
Conch Shell International Film Fest spotlights student and indie filmmakers and screenwriters of the Caribbean Diaspora and the Caribbean whose work inspires social change. Our virtual film festival will create unique opportunities for our international film artists to be celebrated and recognized. Our goal is to advance their careers with screenings, networking events, panels and workshops.
Our theme this year is: “The Hero/Shero.”
We are seeking 1 minute-30 minute inspiring short films and screenplays that feature one or more types of heroes and/or sheroes - classic, tragic, superhero, everyday, real-life hero, mythical, folkloric, anti-heroes, etc. Film categories include: narrative (all genres), short documentary, short animation, web series, and experimental.
Conch Shell International Film Fest is a 3-day online event that takes place in May 21-23, 2021. Our festival will feature film screenings, in-depth Artist Q&A with audience participation, panel discussions, and seminars. We will also have virtual networking events.
The Conch Shell International Film Fest Jury Awards will be be determined on by BIPOC artists working in the industry. Our website will feature 15-second trailers of chosen submissions and "inside looks" into some of our filmmakers. So whether you are an award winner or not - you will be showcased. Featured filmmakers will receive free passes to the festivals virtual screenings and networking events and are eligible for award consideration.

Short Films that have previously screened in other festivals are eligible for CSIFF JURY AWARDS and/or the AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD.
All JURY AWARD winners will receive a laurel and a certificate.
AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD The winner will receive a $200 prize.

Festival films will stream on demand during the festival on https://filmocracy.com/event where attendees will be able to vote for the Audience Choice Award winner.
Short films that have previously screened in other festivals are eligible.
Submitted works MUST satisfy ONE of the eligibility criteria below:
CARIBBEAN DIASPORA FILMS:
Films by indie or student screenwriters and/or directors of CARIBBEAN ancestry (living in North America, South America, Central, African, Europe, Asia, Africa, etc). Films must be written and/or directed by an artist of Caribbean ancestry.
Films written or directed by indie and student filmmakers who are from and living in the Caribbean. Filmmakers working in all Caribbean regional languages are encouraged to apply.
In addition to the above, Entrants must fully comply with the Entry Rules & Regulations, including all deadlines, film length, entry material and other requirements outlined below on www.filmfreeway.com.
All genres are welcome (narrative, animated, experimental, documentary, & web series).

SCREENERS: A Secure Online Screener
Online screener format: .mp4 or .mov (1080p) via FilmFreeway.com. The submission must be downloadable.
Maximum running time: 30 minutes
FILM PRESS KIT - Including: 4 Hi-Res publicity stills, film poster, synopsis, log line, writer and director picture & bio (bio must specify Caribbean ancestry of eligible filmmaker), Cast and Crew information.
SCREENPLAYS - log line, synopsis, full script, 6-page excerpt, writer bio and picture (bio must specify Caribbean ancestry)
SCREENPLAYS - Feedback will be sent to accepted scripts upon request after the festival start date.
SELECTED FILMS: Selected Filmmakers must 15 second trailer within one week of notification - trailer of selected films will be streamed on social media and on our website. Highly recommend that trailer have open captions.
If submitting as a student entry, some form of proof of being a student must be provided (student id or current transcript). Student filmmakers must be over eighteen years of age and competent to contract in their own name.
Entry forms and payment will not be processed without accompanying Preview Copies in one of the accepted formats for film applicants.
All entries must be in English or - SUBTITLED, DUBBED in English.
CSIFF recommends that all filmmakers make their films accessible to audiences of various hearing abilities by providing English subtitles for all films.
Filmmakers and writers (or filmmaker’s representative) shall commit to attend the film festival virtually, participate in scheduled q&a sessions with our online audience, and be present for our online award ceremony to receive an award (if selected).
By submitting to General submissions you acknowledge that you agree to that if your film is selected to be screen in CSIFF 2021 the 15 second trailer of your film (including credits) will be streaming on our website for at least three years; stills for at least 10 years. If your film wins an award your trailer will be on our website for at least 10 years.
Multiple entries are permissible, but each entry must be accompanied by a separate entry form, entry materials and fee.
Awards and Official Selections are based on overall merits of the films and are at the sole discretion of the jury and programming committee.
SCREENING FEE - The festival does not offer screening fees for its films. By submitting through FilmFreeway you are agreeing to NOT request a screening fee as a requirement for your film's participation in the festival, should your film get selected for the program.
Filmmakers waive any right to inspect or approve the photograph, advertising copy, audio piece or printed matter that may be used or to the eventual use that it may be applied.
I grant CSIFF permission to give access to the ENTRY to industry members if requested. Industry, includes but is not limited to network executives, agents, managers, casting directors, press and others that can aid in securing of future work and/or distribution for my ENTRY.
CSIFF reserves the right to refuse to consider any submission at our discretion.
All fees are nonrefundable.
Submission to the festival is not a guarantee that your film will be screened.
Participating in CSIFF implies understanding and acceptance of festival regulations.
