Rules & Terms

SIMI Music Video Fest 2024 Submission Rules & Terms

Eligibility:

Duration: Music videos must be under 6 minutes in length, including credits.
Premiere Policy: There is no premiere requirement; videos may have been shown previously.

Production Year: Music videos from any production year are eligible.

Distribution: There are no restrictions on distribution status.

Submission:

Selection Process: Submitting your music video does not guarantee selection for the festival. All entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and selections will be made based on creativity, quality, and relevance to the festival’s themes.

Waiver Codes: No waiver codes for submission fees will be offered under any circumstances. However, please contact us for discount code should you be either 1) a currently enrolled student in a recognized academic establishment and can send proof of enrollment, or 2) a Ventura County resident or Production Company. email us at: director at simimvf.com (spelled out to avoid spam).

Permissions: Submitters must have full permission from all parties involved in the ownership of the video. It is the submitter's responsibility to clear all rights to the content, including music, visuals, and any other copyrighted material included in the video.

Liability: By submitting your video, you release SIMI Music Video Fest (SIMIMVF) from all liability for any claims by any parties relating to ownership and rights clearance. SIMIMVF will not be held responsible for any negligence in securing the appropriate rights and permissions for the content submitted.

Awards & Judging:

Judges' Decision: The decisions of the judging panel are final. Criteria include the execution of idea, creativity, and technical quality.

Awards: Awards will be given in several categories, to be determined by the festival organizers and announced prior to the event.

Fees & Refunds:

Entry Fees: All entry fees are non-refundable and required for each submission.

Payment: Submission fees must be paid via FilmFreeway at the time of submission.

General:

Changes to Entries: Once submitted, entries cannot be modified or replaced. Make sure your submission is final before you submit.

Festival Dates and Venue: The festival reserves the right to change the festival dates or venue. Any changes will be communicated to all selected participants.
Promotion: Selected music videos may be used in promotional material for the festival, including but not limited to trailers, social media posts, and press releases.

Ethical Conduct:

Content Guidelines:
We encourage artistic expression in all its forms and understand that art can often challenge norms and evoke strong emotions. However, it is crucial that all content respects legal boundaries and upholds a standard of respect and tolerance. Therefore:

Permissible Content: Swear words, nudity/partial nudity are acceptable when used in a manner that is artistic and not exploitative.

Prohibited Content: Submissions must not include any illegal content, nor should they incite hatred, discrimination, or violence. Additionally, avoid content that is overtly politically charged or designed to stir up anger. Such materials will lead to disqualification from the festival.

We seek to create an inclusive festival environment that respects diverse viewpoints while maintaining a focus on the artistic and creative aspects of music video production. Submissions are expected to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a constructive and positive experience for all participants and attendees.
