Indie Shorts Awards Cannes is an IMDb qualifying event with Public Screenings dedicated to international short films of all genres, aiming to find new voices and perspectives to celebrate the power of a good story. We are committed to bring the best of worldwide cinema.
All the Official Selection films will compete every quarter for the Jury's Special Cash Award and will receive a cash prize of USD 1500.
In our opening year we were amazed by films from outstanding directors and breathtaking casts including : Kevin Bacon, Golden Globe winner Kyra Sedgwick, Pauline Chalamet, Ricardo Darín, Oscar nominees Jude Law, Brenda Blethyn and so many more . We also enjoyed the new visions of directors like Sylvain Begert, Constance Tsang, Katrine Brocks ,Phyllis Tam.
No other city in Europe honors the cinema as Cannes does, living and breathing throughout the year under the lights of cinema. It is a unique and picturesque historic location along the French Riviera where you can experience the entirety of the fantastic film world. Since 1939, it has been “the” city of cinema, where you can find as much talent as the stars that it welcomes and without any doubt is the number-one international market for filmmakers.
All main category award winning films will be screened in our public Event. All tickets for this live screening will be complimentary for filmmakers and for the audience. Furthermore, the films from the Official Selection will be screened in our quarterly Online Virtual Events and will compete for the quarterly cash prizes.
We are willing to screen your film amongst diverse audiences in order to support you in developing your uprising career, therefore in addition to our public Event in the city of Cannes, we will be launching quarterly virtual online screenings where viewers from all around the world who hold a ticket or invitation will be able to watch the films. Filmmakers will receive courtesy tickets to watch their shorts blocks.
Our professional screeners will privately review your film each quarterly season and the highest scored films will become part of the Official Selection. Then, our international jury will award the best projects of each season. All of them will receive the Official Laurel and an Achievement Certificate and the main categories winners will compete for the Cash Prize Award for the Best Short of All. Winner announcements as well as filmmakers interviews and Q&A will be released through our social media to help promote your film.
We know the importance of having a full house cinema. This is why we are committed to promoting filmmaker’s projects. We consider each event an opportunity for networking with other artists and people from the industry.
All the Official Selection films will compete for the Best Short of the Season (quarterly special award) and will receive a cash prize of USD 1500.

1- In order to submit a film, you must own the rights or have permission from the owner.
2- The Festival relationship will exclusively be related to the film submitter.
3- Any Foreign film that is not in English must have English subtitles.
4- All fees are non-refundable.
5- INDIE SHORTS AWARDS CANNES will not be responsible for damaged copies.
6- Students must present a valid Student ID in order to receive our student discount.
7- Not all the submissions are selected for the official competition. Our Judges are free to make their own choices and no answers will be given about not selected films.
8- INDIE SHORTS AWARDS CANNES can consider any film to be disqualified if the festival considers the content inappropriate. If you have any question regarding this decision you might contact us at our email address email@example.com
9- Filmmakers can submit the film in multiple categories in order to become a multi-award film. Still, the decision about the selection is strictly determined by our judges' team and no selection is guaranteed.
10- A fee is required for the main category submission and also fees for additional categories. For payment structure visit (FilmFreeway website).
11- The applicants (submitters) must accept INDIE SHORTS AWARDS CANNES Rules and Terms.
12- All submissions in personal categories required the name of the person and the category. You can easily send us this information in the cover letter at FilmFreeway website.
13- Submitting your movie, you authorize INDIE SHORTS AWARDS CANNES to use, distribute and share the film poster, trailer, synopsis and movie stills in our social media.
14- Maximum length allowed is 40 minutes.
15- A DCP copy will be requested for the live Events with English and/or French subtitles.
16- If your movie is selected to be screened at our Annual Live Event, you must provide subtitles in French.
