SCUFF is returning for a second year!

FREE TO ATTEND. 5/14. 7PM. The Varsity Theater

The Seattle College and University Film Festival brings together filmmakers from across the Puget Sounds’ college campuses for an evening showcase of locally produced student films. This year’s selections will be screened to a packed house on May 14th – 7PM at the Varsity Theater and judged by a panel of local critics, industry professionals, and filmmakers.

What's SCUFF all about?'
Nearly every college in Seattle offers classes that turn a student into a filmmaker. Student film clubs and production groups are nearly just as prevalent. All across the city, students are shooting, directing, and editing short films. Seattle is an absolutely incredible city for an up and coming student filmmaker.
There's one problem with this however...
Student filmmakers need a screen for their work to be seen!
SCUFF was created in order to connect, support, and provide a unified festival experience for all of Seattle's college filmmakers.

When/Where is SCUFF?
This year’s festival will be at 7PM, May 14th at the Varsity Theater in the University District. 4329 University Way NE, Seattle, WA 98105.

Is it free to submit?
SCUFF is absolutely free to submit.

What about attend?
SCUFF is free to attend too!

When/how will I be notified if my film is accepted?
Submissions close on May 4th and accepted filmmakers will be informed of their entry status via email on May 8th.

How long can films be?
The recommended maximum submission length for a film is 10 minutes. Due to limited program time, it will be very difficult to accept entries that exceed this length. However, please don’t let this prevent you from submitting your project to SCUFF.

What time of films do you accept?
SCUFF accepts all kinds of films, from experimental to animation to documentary!

Can I submit multiple entries?
Absolutely! However, we ask entries be limited to 3 films per director.

How are submissions judged?
For acceptance into the festival, a short's quality, uniqueness, and time will be considered.

How did SCUFF get started?
The festival began as the centerpiece of Festival Director Will Cadra's senior capstone in the UW's Community, Environment, & Planning program.

Films in festival were clearly high in production quality and budget. However, substance and quality of stories that were featured was subpar but if you have a good film you've been working on for months to look good, this might be for you!

    Response from festival:

Thanks for the feedback Jose. This year, we've added new programmers to make sure our lineup is full of stories for all different tastes and production levels. We don't want anyone to be discouraged from submitting their film free to SCUFF. Hope to see you again at this year's festival!
