SURFACES is a pop up exhibition of light and sound featuring some of the best video and projection artists from Orlando and beyond.

SURFACES 2.0 will take place at the University of Central Florida in Orlando from February 4-7, 2017. The event includes a gallery exhibition of expanded, interactive, and performance-based works and a one-night screening of single-channel works for a 455-seat theater.

This page is for submitting single-channel works for the theater portion of the event ONLY. Narrative, documentary, experimental, and hybrid short films are encouraged to submit.

This event is hosted by the University of Central Florida's School of Visual Arts and Design.

Rules & Terms

Narrative, documentary, experimental, and hybrid works of any theme are welcome. Short works of 30 minutes or less are preferred.

Submissions will be previewed and exhibited digitally. Physical media such as DVDs or film prints will not be accepted.

All preview submissions should be in the form of Vimeo or YouTube link only. Please make sure to include the password for private links.

It is essential for all submissions to include a 50 word synopsis and still image for promotional purposes. Stills should be at least 300 dpi.

If accepted, Quicktime file is the preferred screening format for digital/video. Quicktime files should be H.264 or ProRes, up to 1080p; 20-25 Mbps is generally adequate, up to 50Mbps as necessary. Files can be delivered via Dropbox or delivered in person (details provided upon acceptance).

Accepted entries will be notified by mid-to-late January 2017.
