Recognize talented independent filmmakers and screenwriters with awards and Screenings.

The Los Angeles Reel Film Festival’s aim is to seek out, acknowledge and award the many talented independent filmmakers and writers who may not get the recognition they deserve through many of the more political and commercial film festivals. The LARFF recognizes filmmakers and screenwriters who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity. All genres of film, music videos and scripts are accepted by the LARFF and up to 15 awards will be distributed, giving filmmakers and writers the opportunity to be noticed. 1st place and honorable mention films of each category will receive award certificates and will be guaranteed a screening slot in our schedule.

I think as for submitting a screenplay as I did, you will get a fair and considerate read from this festival.

I say this because for an LA-based festival and my screenplay probably being most antithetical to the tired LA beliefs of what a screenplay should be comprised of, I still managed an Honorable Mention Award for my work, Face Painters, a two hundred page, character-driven epic and whose industry beat sheet became more so the Antichrist to laying out a good story—one based on cultivating human moments and not just Hollywood beats.

This is why I think the Los Angeles Reel Film Festival is worth a shot; they will consider your work on its merits and not just industry preemption.

  • I am thrilled that my screenplay ScareActor was awarded Honorable Mention with this festival. I wish there was a live event to attend, but unfortunately that is not possible with the current situation. Stay safe everyone and may we have a productive year next year!
