Frostbiter: Icelandic Horror Film Festival is the only genre film festival in Iceland. We are searching for interesting new talents in the horror film genre.
Iceland has a history that spans over a thousand years and a history of storytelling just as long. Through Viking Sagas and folktales we encounter many supernatural creatures; ghosts, elves, trolls and even the Devil himself. The cold, harsh scenery of this island is a great source of inspiration for magical beings. During the summertime the sun does not set and we are blessed with brightness 24 hours a day. However, during wintertime the darkness surrounds us all day and everybody knows that in the darkness, evil awaits….
The Festival will be held in Akranes a port town on the west coast of Iceland. Around 20 km north of Reykjavik.
The venues are small and sometimes unconventional. We screen in the music school in Akranes, The bowling alley, abandoned factories, and just wherever we feel can create a great atmosphere for horror.
We are a small but growing festival in our seventh year.
Best international and Icelandic short will be chosen and receive a unique Frostbiter trophy.
