The Scenic City Film Festival was formed by a group of film enthusiasts as an outlet to help local film and video artists create, network, and collaborate. Since 2014, the festival has screened not only feature length films but also short films directed and produced by international filmmakers, tackling diverse topics and multiple genres ranging from documentaries and animation, to narrative and experimental film.

Summerfolk is an annual folk music and craft festival held in Owen Sound, Ontario during the third weekend in August. Summerfolk attracts performers and fans from across North America and the globe to Kelso Beach Park located on the west shore of Owen Sound on Georgian Bay. The festival was founded in 1975 by brothers Tim and John Harrison and is nationally renowned for its music and craft excellence. It was also a founding member of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals now known as Folk Music Ontario.

Together, the Scenic City Film Festival and Summerfolk have joined together to present Summerfolk's 2nd annual Short Film Showcase! The event will be held August 18 at the Summerfolk festival (location: "Down by the River").
