Exclusively for shorts, the goal of the Artists Alliance Short Screenplay Contest is to recognize and reward the screenwriter, independent filmmaker, or ambitious writer-director who creates an exceptional and innovative short screenplay.

Any short screenplay 20 pages or less is welcome, the more original the better! We strive to find and reward the “outside the mainstream” content, and we are open to all genres and styles.

*The 2017 contest is only open for entries from the United States.

Was extremely pleased and proud to be a finalist. It prompted me to start to convert some of my stage plays into screenplays. Hope to get to submit again some day.

I give this screenplay competition a five star rating because, ONE, everything in the "About" section turned out to be true; TWO, the prize package is substantial for a small competition; and, THREE, when I won, the communication from Luke Affholter (who runs it) through emails, phone calls and follow-up emails, to make sure I was getting every part of my prize package, was most impressive. It's a smaller competition; But, they treat you the way a big competition should treat you....

The Artists Alliance Short Screenplay Competition was a great resume and writing builder. The grand prize of being flown out to LA for the Great American Pitch Festival was rewarding and supremely helpful for networking and further growth in my own career of screenwriting both personally and professionally. Excellent competition. I highly recommend it to all screenwriters.
