The Wexford Documentary Film Festival takes place every year in the working fishing village of Kilmore Quay located in county Wexford on the south east coast of Ireland. This dynamic film festival provides the opportunity to see award winning national and international documentary films.

Submissions are now open for the 7th Wexford Documentary Film Festival, which will take place from 11th to 13th September 2020. The festival has a strong focus on films that highlight social, political and environmental issues and we are looking for exciting, challenging and creative documentary films in any length that fits our theme for this year’s festival. The Artist As Activist.
Once again, the festival will present our popular 3 minute film challenge, which accepts film submissions in all genres including fiction, animation, artist’s films and documentary.

Due to the unprecedented situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we at Wexford Documentary Film Festival wish to reassure our community of filmmakers, film professionals, supporters and audiences that while we are proceeding with our plans to present the 7th edition of the festival as scheduled our main priority is the health and well-being of our audiences and the artists and film makers taking part in the festival and we feel it is prudent to mention that we are exploring other options, in the event that the emergency extends further into the year. Such a scenario would result in a significant proportion, or all, of our invited filmmakers and audiences being unable to attend. For filmmakers, submissions are still open and we will continue to accept and review entries and we have extended the submission deadline until May 31 2020.

We will monitor the situation carefully and keep you informed of any changes. We aim to make the 7th edition of the Wexford Documentary Film Festival a healthy and safe edition for everyone involved.
