By submitting your film for consideration to the Maumee Film Festival (“MFF”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
All Applicants and Participants warrant that the film created for submission to MFF 2026 is original and does not infringe upon the copyright, trademark, patent or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
If a film created for submission to the MFF becomes the subject of a claim, suit, or allegation of copyright, trademark, or patent infringement, the MFF shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify the submission.
Applicants and Participants further warrant that they have secured all necessary rights and clearances to exhibit their film during MFF 2026; are authorized to accept these Filmmaker Terms and Conditions; and are authorized to grant the MFF a license to exhibit the film during the Festival. Applicants and Participants hereby grant the MFF a non-exclusive license to exhibit their film during MFF 2026.
Applicants and Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the MFF, its officers, employees, boards and commissions, volunteers and agents from and against any and all claims, actions, costs, judgments, or damages of any type relating to the production or distribution of the film submitted to MFF 2026.
The MFF reserves the right to use all submitted films for various purposes, which may include but are not limited to:
• promotional photos and/or videos
• bios, photos and/or videos on our websites and/or social media sites for promotional purposes
• printed materials developed and distributed by the MFF.
There is no time limit on the validity of this release nor is there any geographic specification of where these materials may be distributed.
Filmmakers are encouraged to include information in their cover letters about their film’s connection to Maumee or Northwest Ohio for promotional purposes.
Films submitted to MFF 2026 must adhere to a certain level of rating conformity. Films may not include excessive gore or material of a sexual nature. The MFF reserves the right to disqualify or reject any film that it determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, to contain prohibited content or is offensive, inappropriate or otherwise unacceptable.
All films must be submitted through FilmFreeway, and must be in the form of a secure online screener or Vimeo link. If a link is password-protected, then the password must be valid through September 27th, 2026, otherwise the submission may be disqualified.
Films screened at MFF 2026 will be converted to DCP format, however, DCP submissions are not required. The MFF will contact all selected filmmakers via email with specific technical requirements to ensure an optimal screening process.
Please do not submit any works in progress. Once a submission link has been accepted, the MFF cannot guarantee that subsequent updates will be viewed.
There is no completion date requirement, however, preference will be given to films completed in the last two years (2025-2026).
Films must be in English or subtitled in English.
MFF does not require a premiere status for submissions. Films may be screened at other film festivals or theatrically prior to MFF 2026, however, it is strongly recommended that films not be made publicly available during the festival period.
Multiple entries from a single Applicant or Participant are allowed, but each entry must be accompanied by its own completed entry form and the appropriate entry fee.
Submissions for the 48-Hour Film Challenge will adhere to regular safety regulations in the City of Maumee. Submissions exhibiting dangerous activity may be excluded from submission to the festival and judging.
Entry fees are nonrefundable.
Films may be denied entry to the festival and judging for violating the Terms & Conditions above.
