The Indie Horror Film Festival is an independent film festival and mixed media event. We strive to support independent film by providing a venue and screen for them to be seen.

We are what many call a filmmakers film festival, as beyond the average horror fan, we want to encourage attendance by filmmakers in effort to see them network with others and possibly see future collaboration together on future projects.

The Indie Horror Film Festival started in 2005 (known then as "Indy Horror Film Festival") by Gatlin Pictures (Jason Davis - Horror Author / Festival Founder). The festival gain some size but then disappeared for a couple years. In 2010 Breaking Fate Entertainment (Willy Adkins - Producer) joined Davis in an effort to bring the Indy "Back from the Dead". Since the new effort, Breaking Fate Entertainment has continued to bring the event back annually ever since welcoming visitors and filmmakers from all over the world!

MISSION & OBJECTIVE
We strive to support independent film, and promote all types of dark art. We go the extra mile to get recognition beyond the festival alone for the amazingly talented people in this industry. Even films submitted to us that don't get accepted for the festival are very often reviewed and written about by one of our columnists for one of our websites including Breaking Fate Magazine or the Cinema Soup Podcast! We also offer distribution at will to our independent film / tv network, Breaking Fate TV!

More Information On The Indie Horror Film Festival Awards:

*Award Winners will be announced in a ceremony at the end of the festival. Winners in attendance will be presented a certificate. Those not in attendance can obtain a digital certificate to print via the official website within 48 hours after the close of the festival. Winners will also be posted in the news feed (front page) and Awards Page of IndieHorrorFest.com within 48 hours of the close of the festival.

** Our Selection / Awards Procedure: Festival Director / Producers make official selections for the festival by vote. Official Selections are then screened/graded by 5 different judges anonymously and given an overall grade on a 10 point scale for each of the qualifying award categories (with the exception of the “Directors Choice Award”). All judges points are then added together to give it a grade. The top 3 films by grade in each category are then considered an award nominee and listed on this page. The film with the highest grade in each category is considered and announced that category’s award winner at the festival. In the event of a tie for highest grade, the festival director, festival producer and festival founder will each vote on the tied films giving the majority vote the award. In the event that one of the production staff are involved in one of the films involving a tie, a 3rd party will be selected to vote in place of the production staff member involved.

**** The Festival Directors Choice Award nominees are the Film Festival Directors top 4 choice films of the festival. The Directors Choice Award is presented at the festival to the Directors favorite film of the festival. (Any film that the festival director is personally involved in at any level is not eligible for this award.)

PLEASE NOTE: Award categories, prizes and number of nominees can all be altered to fit the given festivals number of selected films.

  • It was fantastic to have our NZ short film 'Be Quiet' take part in the 2022 festival, and to have it receive nominations for Best Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound :) Great communication, great festival, wish I could have attended!

  • I can't say enough wonderful things about this festival! Willy was SO communicative and I felt that one-on-one attention that you don't always get with film festivals. I kick myself that I wasn't able to attend the event in-person (the venue looked absolutely amazing) but I was so honored to see that our project, "No Trophies," not only won for "Best Writer" but was nominated in several categories! What a fantastic experience! Can't wait to receive the digital certificate and share it on social media. Thank you to The Indie Horror Film Festival for your professionalism, great communication and for truly caring about the filmmaker experience, keep up the fantastic work!

I participated with a short script and was happy to reach the finalist stage. Although virtual the festival was great giving access to both films and scripts online. Well done and hope for even better projects next year!
