MôTif Film Festival

Films from everywhere and of all genres are welcome. MôTif strives to turn our festival into a platform and outlet for voices fighting to be heard. We also encourage submissions from indigenous filmmakers, filmmakers of color, filmmakers with different abilities, LGBTQQIA filmmakers, female-identified filmmakers, and filmmakers from any other underrepresented group. Please help us spread the word and share this with filmmakers from around the world. You can submit your film through FilmFreeway.

MôTif is a multimedia production company that supports and creates art projects, focusing on the underrepresented and the environment.

We have no limits on how to use art to show untold stories and make ideas come true. Our core goal is to explore solutions and help in the fight to decimate racism, bigotry, poverty, sexism, and climate change through art.

We collaborate with masterly artists to offer innovative services for communities, individuals, and organizations including workshops, event development, performing arts, film, photography, and design.

With our mission in mind, we want to offer the first-ever MôTif Film Festival. We strive to turn our festival into a platform of voices that still fight to be heard, that need support, and is an outlet for their stories.

The winners of each category will receive an exclusive handmade trophy created by a local Alaskan artist and business owner of The Monolith Project as well as a certificate.

All submitted films must comply with the Submissions Guidelines including deadlines, exhibition format, entry material, etc.

We do not pay screener fees.

Entrants are responsible for obtaining any necessary licenses, royalties, release forms, clearances, permits necessary to present their work. MôTif Film Festival is not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work.

Every precaution will be taken to safeguard all materials sent to the Festival but the Festival is not responsible for damage to submitted materials incurred by shipping to or from the Festival.

Films submitted must be available for EXHIBITION as: DVD, .mov or Quicktime file.

Films submitted must be available in English or in the original language with English subtitles.

Entry materials and/or Short films will not be returned with the exception of hard drives and flash drives with a prepaid postage and self-addressed envelope.

MôTif Film Festival does not pay additional charges for originals, masters, or special prints.

Notification will be made on July 17, 2018. All correspondence will be done through EMAIL ONLY to the original submitter.

All films can be available to be shown online previously, but cannot have been distributed or sold.

All films must have been completed after January 2015.

Short films 15 minutes or less. This is inclusive of credits.

Feature films 50 minutes or more.

MOTIF Film Festival is a wonderful festival and the programming is second to none. I feel so honored to have had my project there this year. Moema and the rest of the team were great to work with and I can't say enough good things about their artistic outlook. This is a team that understands that art is also about taking risks and honors the notion of 'experimental film'. Truly flattered to have been selected and definitely submitting more work in the future. Thank you for this festival!

I was unable to attend to this festival, because people from iran can not travel easly i had to wait for two month to having reviewed my files and see if the accept my request to travel globally, but however it was a real heartwarming to see my musicvideo being an award winner in this festival, thank you motif film festival you just made a lot of peoples day here in this dark side of the world .

The festival was very well organized, with its own website and Facebook page. The application guidelines clearly explained and they made an effort to reach out to academic programs at Universities, that's how I learnt about MoTiF. They communicated results on the designated day and moved very fast from there. Definitely, I will submit again coming year!
