Films submitted should be in short film form of no longer than 20 minutes in length. Films longer than 20 minutes may be considered depending on how well it is presented. However, we will not be accepting any feature films. All films of any genre will be considered with the exception of work that displays any form of pornographic material, or any material that have political agendas and which may be racially insensitive. The proper aspect ratio of the films will be in 16:9. Films submitted may be used for promo for future events but no material will be released to any third party.
We require that all filmmakers who submit any work be the primary owner of their work. We also ask that if any work is submitted in which the filmmaker is not the primary owner that the submitter have proof of permission to display the submitted film from the primary owner. Any film submitted in a foreign language requires English subtitles.
Films that are of high quality story, picture, and sound, will have the best chance of getting accepted for screening at the event. We highly encourage all filmmakers with accepted films to attend the event as there will be a Q&A session after the premiere of each film. The submission fee is non-refundable. All submitters, whether the film is accepted or not, will receive 1 ticket for admission.
Premiere night will be a red carpet event in which filmmakers will have photos taken and get interviewed by press.
By submitting, you agree to all of these rules, terms and conditions. You acknowledge that no submission fee refunds are given once this application has been submitted. By entering your film for consideration for DIYFE, you authorize that your work is cleared for festival exhibition and accept full legal responsibility for the intellectual property therein. You also acknowledge that you will not receive any compensation for the use of your film by DIYFE in accordance with the rules, terms and conditions.
