the DARKROOM Longmont to feature Fall 2015 Photography Contest
Photography Competition Open to Entries Nationwide
the DARKROOM, located in downtown Longmont, Colorado is sponsoring a photography competition providing cash prizes and an exhibition. The theme is ‘Red, Rouge, Roja…the Color, the Passion, the Feeling’ and is open to entries nationwide. What does the color RED mean to you? How would you express it in a photograph?
The judge is Jessica Kooiman, Director of The Firehouse Art Center, voted Boulder County’s favorite art gallery in 2014
“Originally we had planned to do just one competition per year (in the spring), but because the first one was so successful (with over 300 entries), we decided to add a fall competition as well. We are especially excited about the competition theme this Fall and eagerly await to see how it is interpreted by the artists” said Julie Cardinal, owner of the DARKROOM
“Since opening last November there have been many talented photographers inquiring about exhibiting with us” said Julie Cardinal, “Seeing the work of so many brilliant photographers I decided these competitions would be a great way to showcase their talent, especially since downtown Longmont is a newly recognized Colorado Certified Creative District and a growing hub of fine art photography.”
The RED theme is wide open to personal interpretation and the judge looks forward to seeing many creative works. Submissions are accepted from now through October 19th, 2015. Please see the DARKROOM website for contest dates and guidelines at http://thedarkroomlongmont.com.
