FILM SUBMISSIONS
01. DATE AND LOCATION
The first International Immersive Film Festival & XR in the region will be held from 22th to 24st Aug 2019 in the city of Quilmes, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It will be admission free and open to all.
02. BRIEF INTRODUCTION
For the last few years the “immersive technologies” gained great momentum. With them, the experience and human perception regarding audiovisual contents changed drastically. Gaining traction in several areas, these technologies succeed to captivate us by enclosing our entire visual field in a screen no larger than the size of a smartphone. We go from watching a film to experience it ourselves. Here, in Latin America, we consider it a pioneering festival, focused on giving prominence to storytelling in Virtual Reality. Consequently, bringing audiences closer to new narratives and audiovisual languages.
XRAR was created to function as a benchmark in matters of film exhibition, in order to promote and foster the development of narrative, immersive content. The acronym XR stands for Extended Reality, which refers to the mixture of every real and virtual environment, as well as the interaction between people and these technological devices. It includes the respective forms of Augmented Reality, Augmented Virtuality, Virtual Reality and the overlapping areas between them.
03. SECTIONS
XRAR will have several sections for films In and Out of Competition. The festival organization will be in charge of selecting each and every work submitted.
• 360º Video International Features in Competition. Open to all Argentinian and international content with no less than a 31 min runtime (closing credits included). If said work is a foreign language film it must have Spanish subtitles in order to be exhibited in the festival.
• 360º Video International Short Films in Competition. Open to all Argentinian and international content with a runtime up to 30 min (closing credits included). If said content is a foreign language film it must have Spanish subtitles in order to be exhibited in the festival.
• Exhibition of Argentinian and international content Out of Competition.
• Special screenings of other immersive / interactive formats.
• Free Training and professional workshops.
04. PRESELECTION CONDITIONS
This call is open to all XR immersive contents from any nationality and with no restrictions regarding runtime. Said contents must have been finished between 2018 and 2019. Short films must have a runtime up to 30 min (closing credits included) and Features must have a runtime greater than 30 minutes. There are no restrictions in nationality, language or subject matter. If the work submitted for preselection is a foreign film, a copy (with Spanish or English subtitles) must be presented. In case of being selected, the film in question must have dubbing or Spanish subtitles in order to be exhibited.
05. SUBMISSIONS
Registration for XRAR - International Immersive Film Festival & XR is free of charge and must be done by producers or filmmakers who own the rights to the submitted work. In order to do so, the applicants must fill in an online form with the required information and then share a link with a screener.
The submission deadlines are on July 1st 2019 (Early), July 15th (Official) and July 29th (Late). Registration can be done via Film Free Way https://filmfreeway.com/
06. COPYRIGHT
The XRAR - International Immersive Film Festival & XR organization presumes that the production companies, producers and directors registered hold the exhibition rights of the works they submit. In any case, the organization is exempt from any liability that may arise from the infringement of these regulations.
07. SELECTION
The result of the selection will be informed before Aug 19th. If the results have not been informed to any of the interested parties after said date, it will be assumed that the content in question has not been selected and, therefore, will not be part of the lineup. The complete XRAR - International Immersive Film Festival & XR lineup will also be available on the website www.xrar.com.ar . Once a film has been selected, it cannot be removed from the festival lineup.
In case a work has been selected, the right holder must provide the event organizers with a copy of the film (dubbed or subtitled in Spanish), at least three (3) high quality stills in digital format, synopsis and technical specifications, all of which will be used for the festival catalog, website and social networks. A press kit should also be provided in order to be distributed
to the media during the Festival.
The person registered whose work is selected authorizes the use of name, images, and information of the film, as well as information regarding its technical and artistic crew. The festival is also given authorization to use a maximum of three (3) minutes of film footage with promotional and communicational purposes. The XRAR - International Immersive Film Festival & XR staff commits not to make any profits, directly or indirectly, out of any footage.
08. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
All works presented in the 360° Video Official Selection (In Competition) must be sent to the festival organization before August 20th, 2019 following these requirements:
Resolution: 4K.
Format: MP4.
Codec: h264.
Bitrate: 35-45 Mbps.
Audio: AAC 512 kbps, stereo or Ambisonics 1st order.
All video files must contain Spherical Video Metadata as well as Spatial Audio.
09. TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Registration implies full acceptance of the aforementioned terms by all participants. The organizers of the XRAR - International Immersive Film Festival & XR may issue additional rules and regulations as they deem appropriate for its better implementation. The interpretation of these terms, conditions, and provisions shall be the sole responsibility of the organizers.

BASES Y CONDICIONES
01. LUGAR Y FECHA
El primer Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y XR, se llevará a cabo del 22 al 24 de agosto de 2019 en la Ciudad de Quilmes, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. El mismo es de carácter libre y gratuito.
02. PRESENTACIÓN
Durante los últimos años fueron tomado gran impulso las llamadas tecnologías ”inmersivas”, que modifican radicalmente la experiencia y percepción humana de los contenidos audiovisuales. Ganando terreno en diferentes disciplinas, las tecnologías inmersivas logran que la amplitud de nuestra visión quede completamente cautiva en un visor que sostiene una pantalla del tamaño de un smartphone. Pasamos de ver una película, a vivir una experiencia. Desde Latinoamérica nos proyectamos al mundo como un festival pionero en visibilizar el “storytelling” en Realidad Virtual, formando así distintas audiencias y aproximando a los usuarios a nuevas narrativas y lenguajes en construcción.
XRAR se crea para ser referente en materia de exhibición, habilitando y sirviendo de promotor y catalizador de contenidos inmersivos narrativos. La sigla XR corresponde al término extended reality, que refiere a la combinación de todos los entornos reales y virtuales junto a las interacciones entre personas y dispositivos tecnológicos. Incluye formas representativas de realidad aumentada , virtualidad aumentada y realidad virtual , así como las áreas superpuestas entre ellas.
03. SECCIONES
XRAR contará con diferentes secciones competitivas y en formato muestra. En todos los casos la selección de las obras inmersivas estará a cargo de la organización del festival.
• Competencia Internacional de Largometrajes Video 360. Abierta a contenidos argentinos y extranjeros, con una duración mínima de 31 minutos (incluyendo títulos). En el caso que el contenido no sea hablado en español, deberá contar con subtítulos en ese idioma para su proyección en el festival.
• Competencia Internacional de cortometrajes Video 360. Abierta a contenidos argentinos y extranjeros, con una duración máxima de 30 minutos (incluyendo títulos). En el caso que el contenido no sea hablado en español, deberá contar con subtítulos en ese idioma para su proyección en el festival.
• Muestra no competitiva de contenidos argentinos e internacionales.
• Proyecciones especiales en otros formatos inmersivos / interactivos.
• Talleres y Actividades Especiales gratuitas de capacitación y formación.
04. ADMISIÓN DE LAS OBRAS
La convocatoria está abierta a contenidos inmersivos XR, de cualquier duración y nacionalidad, terminadas entre los años 2018 y 2019. En el caso de los cortometrajes, deben tener hasta 30 minutos de duración (con títulos incluidos) y los largometrajes deben tener una duración mayor a los 30 minutos. No hay restricciones de nacionalidad, idioma original o temática. En caso que el contenido no sea hablado en español deberá presentarse, para su preselección, una copia subtitulada en español o en inglés. En caso de quedar seleccionada, se deberá presentar una copia de proyección hablada o subtitulada en español.
05. PRESENTACIÓN DE LAS OBRAS
La inscripción a XRAR - Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y XR es gratuita y deberá ser realizada por los productores o realizadores que posean los derechos sobre la obra que presentan. Para la inscripción, los interesados deberán completar los datos requeridos en el formulario de inscripción on-line y enviar un link privado de visionado.
La fecha límite de recepción es el 1 de julio (cierre temprano), 15 de julio (cierre regular) y el 29 de julio de 2019 (cierre tardío). La inscripción puede realizarse a través de la plataforma Film Free Way https://filmfreeway.com/
06. DERECHOS DE AUTOR
La organización del XRAR - Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y XR presupone que las empresas productoras, productores o directores que se inscriben detentan los derechos de exhibición de las obras que presentan. En cualquier caso, la organización se exime de cualquier responsabilidad que pueda derivarse de la infracción de esta base.
07. SELECCIÓN
El resultado de la selección se comunicará a los inscriptos antes del 19 de agosto de 2019. Una vez superada la citada fecha sin que se haya comunicado expresamente el resultado de la selección a alguno de los participantes, se entenderá que su obra no ha sido seleccionada y por lo tanto no formará parte de la programación. La programación completa de XRAR - Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y XR también podrá consultarse en el sitio web www.xrar.com.ar . Una vez seleccionado el contenido, el mismo no podrá ser retirado de la programación.
Si su obra resulta seleccionada, el inscripto deberá proveer a la organización del evento de una copia con calidad de proyección hablada o subtitulada en español, un mínimo de tres imágenes de la película en formato digital de alta calidad, sinopsis y ficha técnica de la obra, que será utilizada para su reproducción en el material de comunicación, sitio web y redes sociales. Asimismo, deberá proporcionar el material informativo que se distribuirá a los medios de comunicación durante el Festival.
El inscripto, cuya obra resulte seleccionada, autoriza a la organización del evento a difundir el nombre, imágenes e información de la película, así como su equipo técnico y artístico, y autoriza a la utilización de un máximo de tres minutos de su película, para los medios de comunicación audiovisuales y spot, como parte de la programación del festival. XRAR - Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y sus socios se comprometen a no generar ingresos directamente de este material.
08. REQUERIMIENTOS TÉCNICOS
Todas las obras seleccionadas para la competencia oficial en video 360 deberán ser enviadas a la organización del festival, a más tardar el 20 de agosto de 2019, cumplimentando los siguientes requisitos:

Velocidad de bits: 35 - 45 Mbps
Audio AAC 512 kbps, stereo o Ambisonics 1st order
Los archivos de video deberán contener la metadata inyectada de video esférico y audio espacial.
09. ACEPTACIÓN DE LAS BASES
La inscripción al festival implica la total aceptación de estas bases por parte de todos los participantes. Los organizadores de XRAR - Festival Internacional de Cine Inmersivo y XR, podrán editar las normas y disposiciones complementarias que estimen oportunas para su mejor ejecución. La interpretación de estas bases, normas y disposiciones será competencia exclusiva de los organizadores.
