🌿Laurel🌿
The tradition of awarding a laurel wreath to the winner began in the Pythias at Delphi in Greece in, the 6th century BC.
They were organized in honor of the god Apollo, who usually appeared with a laurel wreath in memory of the nymph Daphne who transformed herself into a plant to escape his amorous moods. The plant was named "Daphne".

The International Film Festival of Greece opens its doors to the audience for the fifth time to present domestic and international films, videos and screenplays .

The last events of the festival took place on 28th of September in the center of Athens with screenings at the historic Cinema "Iris" (Cinema Sector), and hosted short and feature films from around the world. The festival screened fiction films, documentaries and animations by Greek and foreign directors with free entrance. A significant number of films had their world, European and Greek premieres in Greece.

As I reflect on this, I am evacuating my beloved home in Tarpon Springs, FL due to a hurricane. I’m especially honored to receive “Best Theatrical Play” for the script LIBERTAIRE- The story of the woman nobody wanted and the two men who fight for her, one to create her, the other to give her a home- the untold story of Auguste Bartholdi, Joseph Pulitzer and Lady Liberty.
The ideals of Liberty and democracy are embedded in my DNA and that of Greece🩷

"This well-written play had more substance in it than most of the current theatrical plays or films. In a time where everything important loses its relevance if it does not lead to financial gains, plays like Libertaire remind us that there are ideas and values worth fighting for.” – Dimitris Sparos - Consul General of Greece (Florida )
