Script Selections

The top 5 Screenplays will be showcased across the Community platform, featured in the Lift-Off newsletter which is sent to our 35,000 filmmakers, and shared across social media.

Screenwriters will be invited to include their work in our online Community portal. The portal is a curated database of quality scripts that are looking for production.

Lift-Off Community directors and producers are actively looking for projects to develop. They can use the portal to find their next potential projects, and contact the writers directly to discuss the optioning of scripts, development and rights.
All entries should be completed scripts, short or feature length, and you should be actively looking for collaboration or development.

If you pay a submission fee, we will screen your work. Our programme's are separated into categories based on your content's level of storytelling, production value, message and acting. During the festival we have two voting committees - our professional jury and the general public.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Our online festivals are NOT a pay for vote platform. If you invite your friends and family to watch either the physical or online screenings it is encouraged that they engage with as much of the content as possible and vote accordingly. This is why two votes are always counted from each audience member with both votes resulting in 1 point for each film. We are doing our best to invite new and exciting audiences to genuine indie film content - if you can encourage your audiences to do the same we will build a wonderful network of opportunity for all, no matter where you are starting out.

Proudly, we have no other restrictions for your work. This includes your work's premier status, it's age and/or whether your work has been made available online.

The Lift Off Network prove time and time again, how much value they bring to the festival circuit. Their communication throughout is exceptional from the time you are hopefully selected through to solving logistics when visiting each festival physically. The hybrid online model they currently support has meant that all of our community, present and diaspora alike, mean that they can be a part of the process. I cannot highly recommend them enough.

  • Here're some personal opinions :

I submitted this year's Paris lift off film fest but frankly I am quite disappointed overall. Felt like a rip off for those indie filmmakers by offering the so called networking opportunities. I got to know my film was officially selected at the end of Sep and it was supposed to be great because based on my experience the film would be screened in cinema to be further judged. However , later I got noticed that due to covid the competition will be based on two rounds, the global audience judgement and judgement by a prof team. I have attended A list film festivals like Cannes Film Fest, Austin Film Fest, Shanghai Film Fest, and I have never heard that any random people can just pay fees to watch all films on vimeo and vote for their favorite ones. It's just amatuer. What if the filmmakers of the film A pay 50 friends or strangers to sign up for the voting part ? How do you keep the so-called global audience competition fair ? You can't let random people decide the destiny of a film. If Golden Global is chosen by random people, if Cannes is chosen by random people , then the value and charm of the fests are gone. If the fest can't host the off-line events , then it should call off the fest for a year , so people can pay fees and run for other film fests like Sundance, ironically , the submit  fee is almost the same. BTW, it seems every submitted film was officially selected ........... If you do vote as a global audience , you'd see more than 70 films are selected....

I am living in France and I know exactly the possibilities to host a big event. Last month, a massive music concert called Global Citizen hosted by Live Nation was happening in Paris, Ed was there, and it's packed.  So for those film festivals , if you cannot host off-line events , just say it out before filmmakers submit. FYI, the networking offered by Lift-off is very limited, I joined the community , nothing interesting and exciting.

I understand the limitation of hosting events during covid but this is not the excuse to be a amatuer.

I found Around Film Intl Fest ( same logic of lift off coz it has 4 cities category ) is more useful and entertaining, if you compare the type of the fest.

    Response from festival:

It was a pleasure to screen your first short film, New Year's Eve, in our New Voices programme Bruce.

It's a shame you did not sign up to the Focus Group. As mentioned these are an initiative we ran specifically for people interested in networking. Everyone joins an E-Meet to introduce themselves and talk about their career aspirations, before giving and receiving feedback on each other's films.

Audience choice finalists go through, but it's important to note that jury selections go through to the Network Round also. All finalists are announced next week.

In any case we will absolutely take your feedback on board, and keep trying to offer as much value to filmmakers as we can (which we are pleased to see most of the people on here have recognised).
