Welcome to Season Two of the Friendly Reader Productions Short Screenplay Contest. This year we're doing something a little different. In order to get those creative juices flowing, every two months we will be changing the GENRE and THEME.

So how does this work? Great question.

Step One: Pay the submission fee and choose your selection below.

Step two: Once payment has been made you have until May 31st, 2021 to submit a screenplay no longer than 10 pages (not including the title page). The screenplay genre must be Sci-Fi, the theme must be Redemption. Also, just to add a little twist. A fish must be included in your story (it DOES NOT need to be integral to your story or plot).

Step Three: Email your completed screenplay to contact@friendlyreaderproductions.com. You may re-send your screenplay as many times as you like before the final deadline. The most recent version of your screenplay will be judged.

Step Four: Cross your fingers and pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Once again for the people in the back:
Genre: Sci-Fi
Theme: Redemption.
And just to add a little twist; fish must appear somewhere in your screenplay (they DO NOT need to be integral to the story itself).

You will be given until the end of May to write a screenplay no longer than 10 pages involving this genre, theme, and twist! The rest is up to you!

Awards & Prizes

We are doing a 50/50 contest. 50% of the entrance fees will be going straight to you, the winner. Once all of the entrants are in, the prize money will be announced.

The top five finalist scripts will also be hosted on The Friendly Reader Productions website for one year.

Rules & Terms

All screenplays (collectively, “Scripts”) submitted must be in English.
All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Scripts must be original work at the time of submission. No previously written scripts will qualify.
Applicants may submit more than one Script. Each entry requires payment.
All submissions must be accompanied by the appropriate submission fee PER ENTRY.
Only online submissions will be accepted. NO MAIL-IN SCRIPTS will be accepted at this time.
Friendly Reader Productions reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject or disqualify any ineligible entries, without a refund.
Scripts must be no longer than 10 pages long (not including title page).
