The Capital Filmmakers Festival is dedicated to showcasing independent filmmakers from around the world to a global audience. We will visit numerous Capitals around the globe. Starting with Berlin, Madrid, Malta, Lisbon, Vienna and Budapest.

The Capital Filmmakers Festival is proud to be bringing an edition of the festival to the picturesque Portuguese Capital of Lisbon. A bustling city, bursting with culture and full of arthouse cinemas, Lisbon is the perfect setting for a film festival. We are glad to announce the first Capital Filmmakers Festival Lisbon will be taking place February 8th and 9th 2019. So come join us and experience the beauty and culture of Lisbon!

Rules & Terms

Any year of production is accepted.

FOR SCREENING ONLY: All films that that do not have dialogue in Portuguese may require Portuguese subtitles. This is only necessary once a film has been selected for screening, not for submission to the festival. If a film is selected for screening and subtitles are requested, Portuguese subtitles will need to be provide within 3 weeks after comunicated.

Films that are already distributed online are accepted.

The “Short shorts” category is for shorts under 10 minutes in length.

The “Shorts” category is for films up to 40 minutes in length.

The “Feature” category is for films that are more than 40 minutes in length.

Films that use third party material must have the necessary rights and permissions to use this material.

If your submission is officially selected, the festival may screen your film as part of their activities for up to 12 months after the festival date. By sending us your submission, you agree with this unless this is specifically stated to us by email. For all these screenings between festivals, a special permission will be requested stating a time frame and the city.

We do not pay screening fees.

The decisions of the programmers and jury is final and irrevocable

    Unfortunately Didn't came to Lisbon because Was on set. But I know the festival's coordinator is very professional and she loves cinema and above all indie cinema. With her I won several awards with my short (A Big Love). This movie was on Capital Filmmakers Festival.
    This is an opportunity very well done
