The mission of the Latino Screenwriting Project is to support emerging Latino screenwriters and to elevate the presence, representation and quality of stories that narrate the U.S. Latino experience.

Organized with consulting support from the Sundance Institute, and now in its fifth year of operation, the Latino Screenwriting Project is an annual 3-day workshop designed to support U.S. based Latino writers and filmmakers working on independent feature narrative screenplays.

Four screenwriters will be selected to participate in an intensive workshop that will include panels, screenings and one-on-one feedback sessions under the mentorship of Sundance Lab Advisors all taking place during the San Antonio CineFestival, the nation's longest running Latino film festival. All housing, travel, and a CineFestival pass are provided.

Rules & Terms

The following required materials must be submitted. ALL APPLICATION MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON A SINGLE PDF WITH APPROPRIATE PAGE BREAKS. These materials include, and should be submitted in this order:

Title, logline and a screenplay synopsis (synopsis no more than 300 words)

A bio of the writer or writers. (no more than 500 words)

An artistic statement describing your creative vision for the material, giving us a sense of where you are in the creative process. What is your personal connection to the material? What do you want an audience to take away from your film? How do you envision the realization of this script in terms of story, character, tone, and/or visual style? Who makes up the audience you most want to reach? Why are you passionate about this story? (no more than 1000 words)
