The High Peak Independent Film Festival is a non-for-profit film festival that celebrates shorts and feature films from filmmakers, of all ages, around the world. We aim to showcase the best of up and coming, independent filmmakers across four fantastic days. Our aim is to provide a programme which showcases the very best of international and national independent film.

New Mills is a beautiful town, situated in the High Peak, north of England. It's 45 minutes away from the thriving city of Manchester and easily accessible by all public transport. The historic town lies at the confluence of the rivers Goyt and Sett, close to the border of Cheshire. The town stands above the Torrs, a 70 feet (21 m) deep gorge, cut through Woodhead Hill Sandstone of the Carboniferous period. It is on the north-western edge of the Peak District, England's first national park. It has a population of approximately 10,000.

Situated in the town is the fantastic, and very famous, Swizzles Matlow! Yes, you'll know them for their Love Hearts, Rainbow Drops and Double Dip (and more!).

Over the four days, there will be a variety of events taking place, including the weekly Quiz It!, hosted by a very special guest of honour, a fantastic band night, showcasing local talent, and a brilliant awards ceremony. On top of this, there would be no point visiting the High Peak without taking a fantastic fancy-dress themed walk around (subject to weather conditions!).

All our profits go to our selected charity, New Mills Art Theatre. New Mills Art Theatre is run by volunteers for the community around us, it showcases fantastic shows and films and all proceedings go back into work on the building. Currently, they are trying to raise £800,000 for full repairs and renovations on the building. We may not be able to raise that, but we can at least help!

What an insanely well organized festival this was. We were so lucky to be selected and nominated for our film SANCTUARY - who won the prize for Best Actor. We came travelling from Norway and Sweden and was welcomed as soon as we got on the bus number 199 from the Airport (only £3, 40 all the way).
Their heartwarming festival director, Nicole Pott, made sure everyone felt at home in this little town called New Mills (20 minutes away from Manchester). The locals were super friendly, from the host to random people on the streets that greeted you when passing by.
This is a festival with a vison and a plan. And it merely scraped the surface of it this year. It is highly concerned with the young film makers, but has not forgotten about us "old timers", mind you!
The cinema was a stunning piece on the inside, good projection quality, excellent sound, good seats and clean facilities and kiosk within the premises. Nicole and her company were well prepared for this huge event that seemed to be supported by the rest of the town that held a lovely street party for the festival. We were impressed and weren't expecting this at all. You know when you go to a festival and you know it's gonna be bad, full of hick-ups and poorly organized because it's a first-timer? Well this was everything but that. I promise you that High Peak wont need to wait long before it's among the top 100 film festivals on filmfreeway.com. All in all; we can't wait to come back, High Peak!!!
Thanks for an amazing experience, Nicole!
    Greetings the SANCTUARY-Team :)
