We celebrate outstanding talent and ensure a seamless selection and award process. We understand the anticipation that comes with submissions, which is why we prioritise efficiency, delivering timely notifications to keep filmmakers informed and engaged.

Bittersweet Film Festival is more than an event—it’s a movement dedicated to elevating independent cinema and creating unforgettable experiences for audiences and creators alike.

Filmmakers also have the opportunity to receive a professional review from our panel. Submitted films within the review category will be provided with a detailed written critique and showcased on our website and social media platforms, offering valuable exposure and recognition.

Each category's official selections, finalists, and honourable mentions will be awarded official Laurels in advance of the festival, and both the finalists and honourable mentions will have the opportunity to showcase their films at our festival hosted in Blackpool's Backlot cinema an incredible unique cinema complex. On the evening of the festival, the winners will be publicly announced.
