The Pine River Student Film Festival is the perfect platform to display the capabilities and creativity of student filmmakers.

We are looking for anything and everything impactful: ranging from goofy comedies to eye opening documentaries to nail bitting dramas. Our goal is to discover the films that were made on weekends, breaks, and in between classes; as well as bring student filmmakers, friends and family together on Alma College's campus to experience the best work we can find.

This spring will mark the third annual Pine River Student Film Festival. The idea for the first festival was thought up by Alma College student and class of 2017 graduate, Patrick Mallett and continued in 2018 with Zachary Baker. From 2019-2021, the festival had to be shut down due to COVID-19 but this year the festival will make a resurgence with soon to be 2023 graduate Sophie Flater. The previous festivals' overwhelming success, bringing diverse films and talented filmmakers, has imbued this year's festival with hope for another great experience.

  • Fantastic communication and updating regarding the festival scheduling. Film selection also seems top-notch and seems to be on the fast-track of becoming a well-respected student film festival.
