Over the past decade the Marfa Film Festival has attracted talented filmmakers, international press, industry professionals, and attendees from around the world to a remote corner of far west Texas. Over 5 days we screen a diverse mix of features, shorts, music videos, and experimental works, including a full afternoon schedule followed each evening by outdoor classics screenings in a starlit desert, with special happenings and spaces.

Our program celebrates innovation and excellence in film through meticulous curation and fostering a relaxed social space where up-and-coming filmmakers and adventurous cinephiles mix with film veterans and living legends in a captivatingly scenic, culturally rich environment. We show films one-at-a-time, so attendees can enjoy relaxing and socialize in that unhurried “sun-drenched desert town at the end of the world” Marfa kind of way.

Filmmakers, flims, and musical talents featured at MFF have gone on to win Oscars, Emmys and Grammys. Our program features works of promising newcomers, exceptional talents, and celebrated masters, including world premieres and overlooked classics.

We are very excited about our 2017 festival and hope you will join us for magic in the desert this summer.

Selecting a film for the Marfa Film Festival program is the only formal award we bestow, we don't choose 'best-of' or organize selected films into competitive hierarchies. We've noticed eschewing competitiveness seems to foster a refreshingly unguarded social atmosphere where creative people with a diversity of experiences and reputations can meet to discover new friendships and collaborations naturally. We treat visiting filmmakers with friendly hospitality including a luxuriant filmmakers only dinner and other special happenings.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at the Marfa Film Festival. The women who run it have really created a warm and inviting festival that is conducive to making genuine connections with the rest of the filmmakers there. Robin (who founded the festival) and crew had prepared fun and beautiful nightly free events, like the filmmakers dinner one night with such beautiful food and delicious Mezcal! and an outdoor Frida themed BBQ & screening, a pool party with drinks... it made it so everyone would come and hangout in one place and it was easy to become friends. The town being so small is conducive to this as well.
The quality of the selections was so strong, people commented again and again about how strong the selection of films was. I loved it.

This is the most art-forward film festival I have ever attended. You feel the love of film in the curation of the program and events. Everything I ever make I will submit for this festival.

Was so happy to be in this festival as I've heard AMAZING things about it. Communication with the festival was among the best I've ever seen. Fast, simple and super welcoming.
Sadly I couldn't attend and experience the Marfa vibe for myself. Perhaps next time.
    Thank you Marfa FF!

Marfa Film Festival is truly wonderful. The programming is extremely high quality, and we felt honored to be included in such a collection of admirable filmmakers.
The festival planned tons of events for filmmakers, and really made it worth attending.
Going into some festivals I'm worried about the quality of projection. No complaints here, the venue the festival screened all of the (in-door) programming was excellent. Nice picture, sound, and seating.

You should submit...and if you're accepted, you should attend! I cannot wait to make it back to this oasis of film in West Texas.
