The HaHaArt Film Festival is searching for the funniest short films from around the world. This is not a joke, make us laugh, send us your Comedy Short Films!

By promoting a film festival entirely dedicated to comedy, we aim to give visibility to a film genre too often disregarded as less valuable and trouble in having its artistic value recognized. The festival has as main goals to encourage, disseminate and promote comedy films, to support new creators, to attract and create new audiences, and to favor exchanges between participants. The screening of the short films in competition in this edition of the HaHaArt Film Festival will take place in the city of Pombal on October 25, 26 and 27, 2024.

The festival will be promoted by the CineClube de Pombal in partnership with Município de Pombal.

Rules & Terms

We only accept Comedy Short films in the Festival competition.

Submissions for the first HaHaArt Film Festival will be open until July 31, 2024. The festival does not ensure the viewing and consideration of films received afterwards.

The official selection will be of about 25 comedy short-films. These numbers may vary according to the submissions received by the festival team.

HaHaArt Film Festival allows the submission of comedy short-films produced between 2022 and 2024. They may compete in the following categories:

Best International Comedy Film
Best National Comedy Film
Best International Comedy Film Director
Best National Comedy Film Director

The Best National Short Film and Best National Short Film Director categories
are dependent on the number of Portuguese films in the official selection, being
required at least 5 different films for these categories to be considered.

From each director/producer we allow the maximum of three submissions, that must be all original.

The submitted films can be filmed in any format. They should, however, be
submitted in a digital format as close as possible as to a final version for film
screening. The accepted formats are: 2K Native (2048 x 1080), 2K Flat (1998 x 1080),
and Full HD (1920 x 1080). These files must be compressed in codec H264 (mov /
mp4), with AAC audio.

There can be submissions in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) format as well. The
conditions of these submissions must be discussed with the festival organisation
through geral@hahaartfilmfestival.pt, info@cineclubepombal.pt or
