The TINCAN Magazine is a perpetual container for the distribution or storage of culture, art, and its creators.
The TINCAN Magazine Writing Awards is not only about finding people who can write well. Indeed, the aim of the contest is to identify creative individuals who have both critical thinking and writing skills. The TINCAN Magazine Writing Awards focuses on a few genres: Screenplay, Stage Play, Teleplay, Novel, Poetry, Essay, and Nonfiction.
ELIGIBILITY
The TINCAN Magazine Writing Awards is open to anyone, amateurs, and professionals alike. Entries are welcome from any country in the world.
The competition is open to all forms of literature, from commissioned, published, unpublished, or personal work.
There is no time or date restriction on when the work was written.
All works must be the original work of the writer(s). They must be submitted in English. We accept all genres.
We accept both produced and non-produced screenplays, stage plays and teleplays.
JUDGING PROCESS
Judges score on a scale of 1-10, based on the criteria below:
*Originality (Uniqueness of Concept / Expression of Theme)
*Creativity (Storytelling / Mood)
*Technical Execution (Grammar)
*Overall Impression / Wow Factor
Entries receiving an average score under 5 do not qualify for an award.
INTERVIEW - In case your film is selected, we publish online, a full interview with the screenwriter, director, producer, actor/actress, cinematographer or editor and we promote it to our audience. Submit your film to the interview category you are interested in. We don’t screen the submitted films. We watch the films behind the scenes, and we analyze them as a whole, focusing especially on the work of the member of the crew selected at submission.
REVIEW - In case your film is selected, we write a review, publish it on our website and promote it to our audience.
By no means does submitting your film guarantee that it will be accepted for the review or interview category. Unfortunately, we cannot refund a submission fee once you’ve submitted your film. ARTIST'S RIGHTS
All artists retain full copyrights for their own work. Winners grant The TINCAN Magazine limited and restricted use of winning titles only to promote the artists themselves and in connection with marketing The TINCAN Magazine Writing Awards competition itself. Details can be found in the Competition rules.
All semi-finalists, finalists and winners will be listed on our website.
AWARD CERTIFICATE
All winners will get a digital award certificate and official winner laurels.
PUBLIC AWARENESS
All winners, finalists and semi-finalists will have their submitted works published on the magazine website, under the Artists’ Profile category.
PROMOTION
All winners will be interviewed (in writing) and their interviews will be published on the magazine website, under the Artists’ Spotlight category.
The winners will be selected for each of the following categories:
*Mini Screenplay - 3 pages or less (We accept short film screenplays of any genre).
*Short Screenplay - Between 4 and 13 pages (We accept short film screenplays of any genre).
*Short Screenplay - Between 14 and 30 pages (We accept short film screenplays of any genre).
*Short Novel - Between 1 and 20 pages (We accept novels of any genre).
*Novel - Between 20 and 100 pages (We accept novels of any genre).
*Stage Play - Between 1 and 40 pages (We accept plays of any genre).
*Teleplay - Between 1 and 30 pages (We accept teleplays of any genre).
*Poetry - Between 1 and 10 pages (We accept poetry of any genre).
*Short Nonfiction - Between 1 and 20 pages (We accept nonfiction of any genre).
*Nonfiction - Between 20 and 100 pages (We accept nonfiction of any genre).
*Essay - Between 1 and 5 pages (We accept essays on any topic).
*Film/Video Contest – films or videos no longer than 33 minutes (All types and genres of short films are accepted).
INTERVIEW - One interview with the screenwriter, director, producer, actor/actress, cinematographer, or editor, published on the magazine website, under the Artists’ Spotlight category.
REVIEW - One review of the submitted short film, published on the magazine website, under the Artists’ Spotlight category.
