Welcome to Nordic Star Festival.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nordic Star Festival takes over the direction of the film industry and the future perspective from Västerås Film Festival, which founded the festival and has run it for 10 years.

Västerås Film Festival transitions into a genre festival that can be found here at FilmFreeway. This festival is only available in Västerås.

The coming edition will take place in autumn of 2026 Oct. 17-25 in Västerås and Stockholm.

We have open the submissions for Nordic Star Festival the 2025 edition.
The film must be no more than 2 years old, with a premiere date between fall 2024 and fall 2026. Previous competition entries are not a disqualifier for acceptance into our festival.

  • Thank you for welcoming me and my short film, Fortysomething, in Stockholm :-) It was an honor winning the Best Nordic Screenplay Award.

Confusing. They officially selected “Molkom-Core” through FilmFreeway, I even received an email with their laurels. And then after popping or their website, I realised we were not even in the competition. Is this just so we make a post promoting your festival?

    Response from festival:

We are equally confused by your comment. Your film “Molkom-Core” was screened in Enköping on October 19, so it was part of the festival program. Best/Festival Team

I could unfortunately not attend the festival in person - maybe in the future! Good and clear communication. Thank you for the selection, it was the first screening in Sweden for my short documentary!
