The Picentia Short Film Festival is one of the main international short film festivals in Southern Italy, organized by the ACT Production Association, an organization that has been operating in the culture sector since 2016 and which includes among its commitments the promotion of the cinema sector through events throughout Italy , as well as institutional protection in the Chamber of Deputies.
The Festival is sponsored by the Presidency of the European Parliament, RAI, SIAE, the Campania Region - Department of Culture and Tourism, the Province of Salerno and co-financed by the City of Battipaglia.
Short films are not just a different way of making cinema or a small and simple product, but a part of our lives. The PSFF wants to be a space dedicated to cinema where every filmmaker can make the most of their work, also meeting some personalities from the cinematographic world such as producers, distributors and artistic directors.
The fundamental objective is to create a sustainable cultural system in territories with low or zero density of cinemas, encouraging the population to self-determinate culturally through the decentralized institutional system and the school sector, in harmony with the development objectives envisaged by the European Union with the 2021-2027 programming and by the UN with Agenda 2030 according to the four thematic areas identified: "Environment and resilience", "Prosperity and means of subsistence", "Knowledge and Ability", "Inclusion and participation".
Many of our winners have subsequently been selected, and sometimes have been winners, at major international awards such as "David di Donatello", "Nastri d'Argento", "Mostra internazionale del cinema di Venezia", "Premio RAI Cinema - Tulipani di Seta Nera".

Il Picentia Short Film Festival è uno dei principali festival internazionali di cortometraggi del Sud Italia, organizzato dall’Associazione ACT Production, ente che opera nel settore della cultura dal 2016 e che annovera tra i propri impegni la promozione del comparto cinema attraverso eventi in tutta Italia, nonché della tutela istituzionale alla Camera dei Deputati. Il Festival è patrocinato dalla Presidenza del Parlamento Europeo, da RAI, da SIAE, dalla Regione Campania – Assessorato alla Cultura e al Turismo, dalla Provincia di Salerno e co-finanziato dalla Città di Battipaglia.
I cortometraggi non sono solo un modo differente di fare cinema o un prodotto piccolo e semplice, ma parte delle nostre vite. Il PSFF vuole essere uno spazio dedicato al cinema dove ogni autore può valorizzare al meglio il proprio lavoro, incontrando anche alcune personalità del mondo cinematografico quali produttori, distributori e direttori artistici.
L’obiettivo fondamentale è creare un sistema culturale sostenibile nei territori con bassa o nulla densità di sale cinematografiche, incentivando la popolazione ad autodeterminarsi culturalmente attraverso il sistema istituzionale decentrato e il settore scolastico, in armonia con gli obiettivi di sviluppo previsti dall’Unione Europea con la programmazione 2021-2027 e dall’ONU con l’Agenda 2030 secondo le quattro aree tematiche individuate: “Ambiente e resilienza”, “Prosperità e mezzi di sussistenza”, “Conoscenza e Abilità”, “Inclusione e partecipazione”.
Al Picentia Short Film Festival, negli anni, hanno partecipato come ospiti o in concorso numerose personalità del mondo del cinema italiano e internazionale come Robert Picardo, Joe Pantoliano, Ciera Foster, Francesco Apolloni, Nunzia Schiano, Ernesto Mahieux, Pierfrancesco Favino, Germano Lanzoni, Michele D'Anca, Giorgia Trasselli, Maurizio De Giovanni, Raffaele Buranelli, Luca Serafini, Brando De Sica, Myriam Leone e tanti altri.
Molti dei nostri vincitori sono stati successivamente selezionati, e talvolta sono risultati vincitori, presso importantissimi premi internazionali quali "David di Donatello", "Nastri d'Argento", "Mostra internazionale del cinema di Venezia", "Premio RAI Cinema - Tulipani di Seta Nera".
Awards & Prizes (EN)
The PSFF Artistic Direction will appoint a special commission that will select the finalist shorts. The winners will be determined by the Technical Juries, who will decree the winners of each section. The Jury will be composed of authoritative exponents of cinema and theater; the Press Jury, formed by eminent pens of the entertainment sector belonging to the newspapers of the printed press, the web and the TV, will award the Sala Stampa Award; the Audience in the theater and at home, with the usual methods of participation in the vote (voting in the theater, televoting, social) and with the weighting that will be indicated in a specific regulation before the event, will be able to choose their winner, who will be announced on the last evening. The artistic direction will have full power to assign its own honorable mentions to the most deserving directors even out of competition; the media partners will create their own award dedicated more strictly to the television and radio sector; the Young Jury, composed of film students and aspiring filmmakers under 30, will award the First Sights prize, dedicated to new approaches to film analysis. The young people will be selected with a special announcement, published on the Festival website starting in July.
The prizes will be awarded to the winners of the following sections:
- Picentia Award;
- First Lights;
- Southern Frames;
- Discovery;
- Green;
- Over Time.
The organization reserves the right to change or modify the categories and nature of the prizes. The selected works will be published on the website and on the official Facebook page of the Picentia Short Film Festival and ACT Production, on FilmFreeWay.com/PicentiaShortFilmFestival and on www.psff.it. The finalists will be notified of their selection in order to guarantee their presence at the awards ceremony. To collect the prizes, the presence of the author or a delegate participating in the event is required.
For authors selected for the final phase, discounts are provided to facilitate their presence in the city (discounts provided by activities affiliated with the PSFF) to be agreed with the organization. The non-participation of the author or his delegate at the respective awards evening does not oblige the organization to send or mail the prizes to the winner. The winners will be offered the opportunity to distribute their work free of charge on partner platforms.

Categorie di concorso e premi (IT)
La Direzione Artistica PSFF nominerà un'apposita commissione che selezionerà i corti finalisti. I vincitori saranno determinati dalle Giurie Tecniche, che decreteranno i vincitori di ogni sezione. La Giuria sarà composta da esponenti autorevoli del cinema e del teatro; la Giuria Stampa, formata da penne eminenti del settore dello spettacolo appartenenti alle testate giornalistiche della carta stampata, del web e della TV, assegnerà il Premio Sala Stampa; il Pubblico in sala e da casa, con le consuete modalità di partecipazione al voto (voto in sala, televoto, social) e con la ponderazione che sarà indicata in un regolamento apposito prima dell’evento, potrà scegliere il proprio vincitore, che sarà annunciato l’ultima serata. La direzione artistica avrà la piena facoltà di assegnare delle proprie menzioni d’onore ai registi più meritevoli anche fuori concorso; i media partner costituiranno un proprio premio dedicato più strettamente al settore televisivo e radiofonico; la Giuria Giovani, composta da studenti di cinema e aspiranti filmaker under 30, assegnerà il premio First Sights, dedicato ai nuovi approcci all'analisi del film. I giovani saranno selezionati con apposito bando, pubblicato sul sito del Festival a partire dal mese di luglio.
I premi saranno consegnati ai vincitori delle seguenti sezioni:
- Picentia Award;
- First Lights;
- Southern Frames;
- Discovery;
- Green;
- Over Time.
L'organizzazione si riserva il diritto di variazioni o modifiche alle categorie e alla natura dei premi. I lavori selezionati saranno pubblicati sul sito e sulla pagina Facebook ufficiale del Picentia Short Film Festival e dell'ACT Production, su FilmFreeWay.com/PicentiaShortFilmFestival e su www.psff.it. Ai finalisti sarà notificata l'avvenuta selezione al fine di garantire la loro presenza alla cerimonia di premiazione. Per il ritiro dei premi, è necessaria la presenza dell'autore o di un delegato partecipante all'evento.
Per gli autori selezionati alla fase finale sono previsti sconti per agevolare la presenza in città (sconti forniti da attività convenzionate con il PSFF) da concordare con l'organizzazione. La non partecipazione dell'autore o di un suo delegato alla rispettiva serata di premiazione non obbliga l'organizzazione a inviare o spedire i premi al vincitore. Ai vincitori sarà offerta l’opportunità di distribuire gratuitamente, su piattaforme partner, il proprio lavoro.
