The principal purpose of Newcastle Fringe is to support independent artists and promote independent arts in Newcastle. The aim of the not for profit is to be the best little fringe that we can be, connecting to the global fringe movement and encouraging visitation to Newcastle by artists and audiences alike.

The goals of Newcastle Fringe are:

*To provide leadership and a focus for the independent arts community in Newcastle;
*To facilitate the development, production and presentation of independent art;
*To organise, promote and present an annual independent arts festival, the majority of which is open access participation;
*To facilitate networking and development among like individuals, organisations and collectives from around the world;
*To develop and present professional development opportunities, activities and programs for independent artists, producers and arts workers;
*To be a platform for acts and audiences to travel to Newcastle for this must-see event.

1st Prize (Animation and Live-Action):
*Short film acknowledged as top-prize winner, and featured in Newcastle Fringe Festival promotional material + VOD materials
*1-2-1 Screenwriting workshop with Serhat Caradee (Director of the feature-film 'A Lion Returns')

(Domestic applicants only)
* x2 bottles of locally-produced, world-famous Newcastle wine.

2nd Prize (Animation and Live-Action):
*Short film acknowledged as second-prize winner, and featured in Newcastle Fringe Festival promotional material + VOD materials

* x2 bottles of locally-produced, world-famous Newcastle wine.

Newcastle Fringe Festival supports independent artists, independent art, and independent art-making. Therefore, we want to limit restrictions as much as possible, which means that the Festival is open to all applications so long as they meet the following stipulations:

*A short film (animated, or live-action),
*Of any duration, no longer than 15 minutes,
*Produced at any time, anywhere in the world
*That does not, and is not in breach of Australian law during the process of production.

While Newcastle aims to screen the amazing work of all of our applicants from around the world, the final screening list will be subject to the discretion of the timetable on the day and the Festival staff.

While we'd love to accept physical copies of applicants films, digital copies only please.
