After the amazing success of the 1st Margate Bookie Film Fest we're back! And this time it is going to be bigger and better than ever!

As before - we celebrate all types of storytelling through short films. Whether it is comedy, drama, animation, mood pieces or documentaries we want to see your films!

We know there are a lot of festivals out there, so we've thought long and hard about how we can add value to the filmmakers experience:

Here's a rundown of what the Margate Bookie Film Fest can offer you:

*EVERY FILM SUBMITTED WILL RECEIVE WRITTEN FEEDBACK FROM OUR PANEL*

Feedback will be constructive on what we loved and what could be improved.

*EVERY SELECTED FILM WILL BE SHOWCASED ONLINE FOR THE WHOLE FESTIVAL*

All selected films will be showcased online for 10 days and promoted through our social media channels to maximise exposure.

* EVERY SELECTED FILM WILL BE ANNOUNCED AND FEATURED IN OUR OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONY ONLINE*

This will be broadcast on the first and last day of the fest.

* EVERY SELECTED FILMMAKER WILL HAVE A 'Q AND A' INTERVIEW WITH US WHICH WILL BE RELEASED DURING THE FESTIVAL*

We will discuss YOUR film giving the viewers a real insight into how your film was made.

* ALL SELECTED FILMS WILL BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN THE AUDIENCE AWARD - A PRIZE GIVEN TO THE FILM THAT HAS THE MOST REACH AND ENGAGEMENT*

We don't want to discourage anyone from submitting which is why we have tweaked our awards this season.

We have awards for 'BEST FILM, BEST LOW BUDGET FILM, BEST LOCAL FILM, BEST INTERNATIONAL FILM, BEST UK FILM, COVID AWARD 2020 AND THE AUDIENCE AWARD FILM.

The Margate Bookie 'Best UK Film' Award

The Margate Bookie 'Low Budget Film' Award

The Margate Bookie 'Audience' Award'

The Margate Bookie 'Best International Film' Award

The Margate Bookie 'Covid Award' Award

All selected filmmakers will have a 'Q and A' style interview broadcast online where we discuss your film.

All selected films will feature in our opening and closing ceremony.

All winners and selected films will receive a Margate Bookie customised Laurel.

All winners and selected films will be showcased through all of our social media channels for the duration of the festival.

Rules & Terms

All films to be under 12 minutes long.

To qualify for the 'Kent Best Film' award - All films need to affiliated to Kent in someway - ie - Crew members, shot in Kent UK.

To qualify for the 'Low Budget Film' films need to be produced with a budget less than £700.00.

The 'Audience Award' will be given to the film that achieves the most engagement. Views of the film and reach across Facebook and Twitter will be taken into account from 1st December to 8th December 2020.

To qualify for the 'Best UK Film' award - All films need to affiliated to UK in someway - ie - Crew members, shot in Kent UK.

To qualify for the Covid Award - films need to be shot from March to July 2020.

English subtitles to be present if English is not the language being spoken.

All films submitted need to be finished - no works in progress please.

If selected, films need to be in MP4 format.

    Loved being part of this festival. Very good communication from the organisers and the wrap-up video was brilliant. Would submit again and hope that this festival grows, with any luck becoming a live physical event in its next iteration!

    A festival with a good proposal that seeks to give space to independent filmmakers. In one of the most challenging years for the audiovisual industry, it is good to know that there are still festivals that seek to help filmmakers to promote their projects
