The aim of I Mille Occhi ("A Thousand Eyes"), which took place for the first time in Trieste in 2002, is to modify the traditional notion of a film festival, proving that the importance of cinema must not only depend on established tradition. On the contrary, a festival must target a new audience, combining known and less known aspects, past and contemporary cinema. This is the reason why Mille Occhi, named after Fritz Lang's The Thousand Eyes of Doctor Mabuse, does not want to limit its field of vision to a single time, place and genre. This approach to cinema requires great conviction as far as program choices are concerned and does not involve mere information overviews. The focus is on making new discoveries.
