The Cancer Support Community of the San Francisco Bay Area’s first-ever film festival charity gala will be an elegant and inspiring evening of courage, resilience, and hope, broadcast live from the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton, California. Please submit your film about cancer for a chance to be featured in our festival. We are looking for short films under 10 minutes, and the top 3 films chosen by our panel of industry professionals will be screened as a part of our charity event. During the show, viewers will vote for their favorite film, bid on unique auction items, and learn about the critical, life-changing services that Cancer Support Community offers for free to anyone affected by cancer.

Three short films will be selected as finalists by our elite judging panel including Josh Cooley (Academy Award winning animator, writer, and director), Lyn Sisson-Talbert (producer of Jingle Jangle), Perri Peltz (journalist and documentary filmmaker, director and co-producer of Axios on HBO), Eric Ellenbogen (CEO of WildBrain and previously a senior exec with NBCUniversal, DreamWorks and Marvel), and Jeffrey Friedman (Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker). Finalists will be announced before the show and screened at the event for the live audience and as part of our event online broadcast.

Selected finalists will be viewed and judged by the judging panel, with the top three winning one of three awards: Judges' Choice, Second Place, and Third Place. Winners will receive a trophy and certificate as well as public recognition by Cancer Support Community. Winners will also have the opportunity for private discussions with the judges and/or members of our advisory board. Winners and finalists will have the opportunity for additional online screenings with Cancer Support Community after the event. Additional prizes for finalists and/or winners may be determined before the event date.

All entrants will be offered a free one-on-one counseling session with Seed & Spark.

A) By submitting, you agree to grant the Cancer Support Community the rights to screen your film at the Film Festival Charity Gala on September 18th 2021. Films screened at the event will be included in our online broadcast, which will be available worldwide.

B) Entries must be received no later than 11:59pm on June 15th, 2021.

C) Films must be 10 minutes or less, in English or with English subtitles.

D) All submission fees are non-refundable.

E) Due to Covid-19, festival location may be a hybrid of virtual and in-person or may be forced to become online-only, depending on local rules and regulations.

F) Only submissions of complete films will be accepted--short versions of feature films are okay, but we do not accept trailers.

G) All types of films (documentary, narrative, performance, animation, etc.) are accepted but are not categorized.

H) CSC will run an extensive promotional campaign for the event. To support this campaign, finalists will be responsible for providing:
-Digital images and any promotional information you wish to share about your film.
-A secure online screener for the judging process.

I) Filmmaker may be asked to submit their film in a specific format for the screening, which they agree to provide.

J) By entering, you warrant that you are authorized to commit your film for screening both at the event and through the event's livestream broadcast online, and that you understand and accept the requirements and regulations for such a commitment.

K) You further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cancer Support Community from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses which may be incurred by any reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, or screening.
