What is Climax?
A prestigious, virtual, film journal that's streamed every four months. In some ways, a modern film festival that resides on the internet and acts as an exclusive, pop-up streamer, with the mandate to propell an elite selection of independent cinema's finest new ouvres and emerging auteurs. Climax as an awarding body acts with a fusion of the institutional philosophies of the Critics Choice Movie Awards, Directors Notes and the European Film Awards, operated within peninsular Spain.
Climax's engine lands its outmost winners and finalists a reach of 1M people, press currency with extensive coverage, and IMDb accredited awards with diplomas.
Climax's institutional efforts are to collide the best of independent cinema with the most relevant, expert, critics and press outlets, followed by making the ouvres global through paid media's stream power.

Why Climax?

Climax sees Film as an irrevocable art form. In order to secure its transcendence, its most primitive and radical form has to penetrate the mainstream. Climax's ordeal is split in seeking out excellence in film, and innovation, experimentalism, originality, complexity, sublimity, amongst other pillars. Climax's on a ferocious scout for an undefinable and holistic "X factor". What is it? It could be found in exceedingly original and complex motion pictures, that perhaps reach their meaning through unconventional methodology, through the subtext of narrative silence, the possibilities are infinite, these are the films that shine brightest at Climax. The board committee at Climax are deeply invested in the most thorough introspective study of the motion picture canvas, the best possible representation of the medium, and lastly, making it mainstream for the world to see... for the world needs more art.

After competing in any given main award category, submitted projects are automatically considered across secondary categories.

I feel exceptionally privileged to be a part of such a magnificent experience!

Raúl Asensio Díez, the Director of Festival Communications, was extremely welcoming and supportive! He explained everything in detail and the communication was easy and efficient. Well-defined information was provided in the kindliest manner.

The success of the CLIMAX Film Festival is not a mere coincidence but the result of hard and passionate work!

I am aware of the first-class quality of the films that participated in this edition of the CLIMAX Film Festival (2022) – which makes me even more grateful for our film’s mentions/achievements: Two Climax award wins for Best Short Film and Best Original Screenplay, and six award nominations for Best Picture, Best International Film, Best Directing, Best Original Concept, Best Production Design, and Best Lead Actor.

    Thank you very much!

  • Interesting new film festival with online virtual exhibition week. Beautiful website but due to technical problems Apple users could not see films playing at first. But I like the concept and will submit again with pleasure for future editions

  • Thank you for my film Sous Tension. My team and I are really thrilled with what the film is experiencing across the globe! Under tension goes around the world and to pass between the eyes of your selectors and jury is an honor that you do us! Thank you very much for everything, you knew how to open your heart and your feelings about violence against families but also knew how to appreciate the artistic side of the film. Thank you very much, you are a great Festival! Mireille Fievet
