GENERAL RULES

NYC TV FESTIVAL DEFINES:

TV SERIES any film with a continuity - Running Time 20 min. or 60 minutes p/episode
Serials typically follow main story arcs that span entire television seasons or even the full run of the series, which distinguishes them from traditional episodic television that relies on more stand-alone episodes. TV SHOW any film with a different story per episode - Running Time 30 min. or 60 min
A TV show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed between shows. (Ex.: ELLEN Show -OPRAH - Dr. Phil - etc.

TV PILOT any film as a prototype for a future TV Show - running time 22 min to 60 min
A television pilot is a standalone episode of a television series that is used to sell the show to a television network. At the time of its creation, the pilot is meant to be the testing ground to gauge whether a series will be successful, and is therefore a test episode of an intended television series

ANIMATED FILM with running time from 2 minutes to 60 minutes
Animated Films are ones in which individual drawings, paintings, or illustrations are photographed frame by frame (stop-frame cinematography). ... Animations are not a strictly defined genre category, but rather a film technique, although they often contain genre-like elements.
