A weekend of adventure, film and fun, an invaluable experience for outdoor enthusiasts, Killarney Mountain Festival is an all-encompassing mountain & film festival. The programme of film screenings and events will include adventure, environmental and actions films along with speakers and workshops.

Rules & Terms

Final deadline for open submissions is December 22nd 2017 for all categories.

Please upload a minimum of three images from the film, not poster images. Label the image with film name and photographer credit.

Films, not in the English language must have subtitles.

The selection and scheduling of all films screened at Killarney Mountain Festival is entirely at the discretion of the Festival Judging Panel.

The Festival will not enter into any discussion regarding films that are not selected for the 2018 edition of the festival. The status of selection will be made via FilmFreeway notification. Submission of a film does not guarantee screening.

Selected films will be announced on the KMF website and in the media.

ENTRY FEE:

There is a small administration fee for all film entries. Film entries will not be accepted until payment has been received.

SCREENING FORMAT:

The screening format is DCP only. If selected the festival will request a file from you as below to convert to DCP.

A H.264 file with the following specifications:
Frame size - 1920 x 1080
Frame rate - 24fps or 25fps
Bit rate - 12000kbps to 35000kbps.

Audio 48khz 24bit stereo

Any films with a 5.1 audio mix, we will request ProRes

If selected, any web links used to transfer accepted formats should remain active until we have confirmed that we have downloaded and tested the film. Alternative versions will be required where it is evident that the technical requirements are not being met. Failure to adhere to the technical requirements may result in films not being screened.

Screening format for Feature Films will be DCP only and must be provided by the applicant if selected.

We will liaise with the filmmaker regarding screening formats after final decisions have been taken. Please check the email you submit your film with regularly. This is the method we will use to contact you. If there is no response to our emails, KMF reserve the right to withdraw selection for KMF18

IMAGES AND MEDIA:

Images and press packs will be requested upon selection. These will be used for promotional purposes not limited to press, online media, television, radio and any other media platform.

Television and Internet broadcasting: Taking part in KMF implies allowing broadcasting on Irish and foreign televisions and on the Internet (extracts limited to and not exceeding 3 mins) for the purpose of promoting the festival.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE:

Final deadline for open submissions is 22nd December 2017 for all film categories. Filmmakers will be informed of screening times and locations on completion of the programme.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR WAIVERS. WE CANNOT REPY TO EMAILS REQUESTING WAIVERS.

Killarney Mountain Festival does not pay screening fees. We request that applicants submit only through the FilmFreeway portal. We do not accept DVD's, online links by email etc.

On submitting to the festival the applicant understands that he/she has legal right to submit the film including ensuring all clearances have been obtained. By submitting to the festival the applicant agrees to the rules and terms.

The Entrant agrees to indemnify Killarney Mountain Festival and partners, sponsors, venues and other associates and hold them harmless from and against any and all claims, liability, losses, damages, costs, expenses (including reasonable legal fees) and penalties arising out of, resulting from, based upon or incurred because of a breach by the Entrant of any statement, representation or warranty made by the Entrant in this entry form.
