The New Holland Island International Debut Film Festival aims to become the main platform for debut cinema in Russia.

Our goal is to introduce the diversity of practices by aspiring filmmakers to the audience and create a professional space for independent directors, writers, and producers who are looking for an opportunity to implement bold and unusual creative ideas.

The festival is organised by the team behind the New Holland: Cultural Urbanization project.

The festival programme includes two competitive sections: main competition, reserved for fiction feature films, and shorts competition, in which documentaries, fiction and experimental films compete on an equal footing. The competition programme will be screened in St. Petersburg, at New Holland Island.

For all films with dialogue, English subtitles are necessary if the original language is not English.

By submitting an application, the participant confirms that he or she is the legal owner of the application materials and guarantees that copyright, literary, musical, artistic, intellectual property or personal rights were not violated.

By sending an application, the participant consents to the use of materials (excerpts up to 3 minutes, scenes, posters, trailers) for promotional purposes of the festival both in print and on the Internet.

If your film is selected, you will need to provide a copy in DCP or HD format (Apple ProRes). Detailed technical requirements will be sent out to all selected participants individually.

When submitting an application, you must pay a fee of USD 3 for short films and USD 5 for full-length feature. Payment is made on FilmFreeway when submitting the application.
