The Wayward Festival: Films Outside the Box

Wayward is an independent film festival showcasing works from international filmmakers.

We exist to bridge the gap between the lives of real people and the inclusive stories that Hollywood chooses to tell. We aim to elevate all voices through the medium of film.

We are a cross-genre celebration of outsider art and compelling narrative. Seeking change through cinematic expression, we show the importance of varied perspectives telling all stories.

By providing a space for underrepresented artists to showcase their work, we hope to open conversations about social issues and the bias represented by mainstream media.

We have a low barrier to entry: submissions are just $10 for everyone. We welcome filmmakers of all levels; whether you’re a seasoned director, a first-timer with a great idea, or even a YouTuber, we want to see your work!

Join us at our festival events in LA in May 2017 & in London September 2018. We screen films all year round with the help of our cinema and streaming partners.
