Submissions to the 2016 Scream Queen Filmfest Tokyo are now closed. Thank you to all who submitted. Please check back for information regarding next year's festival.

Scream Queen Filmfest Tokyo (SQFFT) is a film festival dedicated to showcase and promote emerging and established female genre filmmakers.

Launched in 2013 and held annually in Tokyo with tour screenings around Japan throughout the year, SQFFT is passionate about sharing unique and diverse visions that female artists bring to the genre. We are celebrating its 4th year and we continue to support and celebrate the art and cinematic contribution of women genre filmmakers from around the world.

The 2016 edition will be held at Uplink, the famous art-house movie theatre in Tokyo (CNN listed Uplink in their “10 of the world's most enjoyable movie theatres”). And immediately after our Tokyo event, the festival will have its very first tour out of Japan and heads to Southeast Asia! (further details about our international tour will be announced on our official website and Facebook page). We’ll be showcasing the programme from Tokyo screening as well as films selected for the tour.

Do you have films that you want to share with the enthusiastic genre film fans in Asia? We celebrate independent genre cinema like no other events and we seek out the newest, exciting and thought-provoking genre films by women from across the world!

The main festival will be held at UPLINK, in Tokyo, Japan (Oct.22-28)
37-18 Udagawacho, Shibuya, Tokyo, 150- 0042.

Scream Queen is so cool to be part of! Not only do they have the main event in Tokyo- when you submit you're also eligible for their tour. My film played in Singapore thanks to SQFF!

  • SQFFT is really amazing, I have not had the chance to attend (so I haven't rated networking) but my brother has. The screening locations in both Tokyo and Singapore are outstanding, they are workshops and local artist stands during the festivals. Communication with the festival runner is perfect, the volunteers are very positive, enthusiastic and helpful. The selection of film is of such a high level that I am very proud to have been selected amongst them. Mai knows what she is doing, she truly loves it and fills the seats of her amazing fest. I hope to be there next time!
