The Vermont Filmmaker Short Film Showcase is a community event highlighting the works of Vermont Filmmakers. It is free to submit to have your work shown, and free to attend. The showcase will be held on January 15th and March 11th in the new North End of Burlington, VT.
Come for a night of quality short films, followed by a Q&A with local filmmakers.

1. Please only submit films by currently Vermont-based filmmakers or feature a predominantly Vermont-based cast and crew.
2. While moderate adult content is allowed, as this is a community event films with exceptionally strong adult content (extreme violence, nudity, language, etc.) may not be shown at the discretion of the presenters. Submitters will be notified of this well in advance of the event.
3. If the amount of submissions we receive is greater than the runtime of the event allows: we will select what is shown based on the following criteria- A) Connection to Vermont in the Cast, Crew, and Director B) Order in which films were submitted C) Ability to attend the event. We will also ask directors to show one film per Showcase event. Though multiple submissions are allowed.
4. Please allow 1-2 weeks for your film to be reviewed and you to be updated on their scheduling.
5. Submitted films should be in a mostly completed state. Films with unfinished audio or volume balancing issues may be asked to correct the issue before being scheduled for screening.
6. Please submit short films ideally no more than 15-20 minutes in length.
7. Films that cannot be featured for any reason during the screening can elect to be featured in the event program which will include the title, logline, screenshot, and digital home of the film.

  • The screening was very professionally executed, and the audience was really receptive to all of the films. The Q and A afterward was particularly insightful and opened the door for a lot of conversations and connections with other local film makers. I really appreciate getting to be a part of the first of what I hope will be many showcases to come.

    Response from festival:

Thank you very much J.R - it was great having you!

  • Many thanks to VFSFS for selecting and screening our VT-made dance short film "Gravity." Communication was helpful and flawless. With other supposedly-local festivals having expanded significantly in geographic area, "VT Shorts" is filling an important gap. My fellow filmmakers and I look forward to another round!
