Nanjing International Film Festival is a high-quality film festival integrating film proposals, competition units, venture capital, red carpet, screening and forum. It is held in Nanjing, the ancient capital of culture with a history of 1,000 years.As a very influential film festival in China, the Nanjing International Film Festival is committed to strengthening international cultural exchanges and cooperation, promoting the development of the film industry, and promoting the prosperity of film creation.It collects films from all genres worldwide, including but not limited to feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental films and commercials.Its competition units have formed a fairly professional business system, holding screen exhibitions, master classes, forums, venture capital, film reviews, award ceremonies and a large number of activities.
Since its first opening ceremony in 2018, the Nanjing International Film Festival has been successfully held for three consecutive years, attracting 2,632 films from 61 countries and regions on six continents, and more than 2,000 ordinary audiences, industry representatives and special guests to participate in various activities of the festival.
As one of the international professional festivals, Nanjing International Film Festival attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchange. Now, it has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 30 famous international professional film festivals and institutions and integrated them into the market system of international film festivals.The 2019 Nanjing International Film Festival cultivated and supported a group of emerging directors both at home and abroad. The proposals of more than 95 young directors won international co-production financing or referral opportunities through this exchange platform, which greatly enhanced the public's awareness and popularity of young directors.
The Nanjing International Film Festival provides an opportunity for young directors, both national and international. Each year, the Festival will first be held in cultural centers, small theaters and event Spaces throughout Nanjing, followed by a tour of different cities throughout China.
With over 15 award categories, it is also possible for entrants to receive multiple nominations for more than one project. All festival nominees and winners are selected by a jury of film industry professionals from CHINA，Europe, the USA, and Canada.
A selection of the jury's favorite films will be screened at our annual event. Entrants of chosen screening films will be notified prior to the event.

1. Submission Deadlines
Submissions are accepted from and FilmFreeway.
2. Submission Format
Films must be submitted EITHER via online screener if the size is less then 5GB or by DCP. The tracking number, film title, film category and running time must be clearly labeled on the DCP. Please avoid stickers on the cover. Submitted copies will not be returned.
3. Submission Eligibility
- There is no premiere policy for short films and music videos.
- Works-in-progress and films with distribution are accepted.
4. Premiere Status
- There is no Premiere policy for short films and music videos, they may have screened at other Festivals and/or online.
5. Submission Fee
The submission fee is non-refundable.
All shipping and postage costs for the submission package and, if the film is selected for the Festival, for all DVDs and additional materials sent to and returned from NANJING INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL must be borne by the submitting party.
7. Selection of Films
Submissions are reviewed and selected under the following criteria:
- Quality of narrative and production values
- Independent nature of the production
Time limit for short films: less than 60 minutes
Time limit for feature films: more than 60 minutes
9. Festival Screenings
Selected films MUST provide a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) in order to be screened at the NANJING FILM FESTIVAL , as well as a back-up Blu-ray. The film title MUST be clearly labeled on the DCP and Blu-ray.
Blu-ray will be used as back-up only. Please clearly label whether your film is PAL or NTSC. Our facilities do NOT support DVD, tape, 35mm, Super 16mm, 8mm or double-head formats.
A selected DCP must be received at N FILM FESTIVAL no later than 30 days prior to its scheduled screening date.
Our partner cinema uses pin sharp Sony 4K Digital Cinema projection, making DCP screenings look incredible. NANJING FILM FESTIVAL aspires to provide the best quality projection possible but will not be held liable for any failure in the technical quality of the projection, nor will fees be refunded in any such case. NANJING FILM FESTIVAL assumes that the submitting party or filmmaker(s) or entrant(s) or print source company has insured for damage and loss of the festival DCP.
Screenings are scheduled during the Festival at the discretion of NANJING FILM FESTIVAL . Whilst every effort will be made to adhere to the published schedule, CHINA reserves the right to make changes at any time for any reason. Festival will not be liable for any costs claimed as a result of a change in scheduling.
No film may be withdrawn from the festival program after its selection.
