KO:SH Film Fest is an International Short Film Festival taking place in Korça, Albania, organized by FIRST STEP ASSOCIATION & D’ART PRODUCTION.

The Festival aims to make together in Korca, filmmakers from all around the world, to screen their movies, make new connections, and to develop their incoming projects. The filmmakers will have the opportunity to visit the beautiful city of Korca, and to screen their movie on it’s historical square.

Besides the competition, other events are organized as:

Industry Day

Special events, meetings, discussions between filmmakers, festival
directors, distributors etc, are made during the industry day.

Focus Program

Every year we choose one or two countries in focus. Short films from
respective countries are screened. Following to Q&A and other discussions
regarding the films etc.

Kids Program

One of our most loved programs it’s Kids Program. Animated workshops
are organized, where kids 7+ can make a short animated film.
Last year, two representatives from “Le FAR / Espace d’éducation à
l’image” from Clermont-Ferrand, were in Korca and they teached to
the kids how to make a short animated movie. A 3-minute short film
was made by ~60 kids in 3 days.

Masterclasses

Different masterclasses are organized by artists and filmmakers.
Workshops
Also, different workshops are organized. Script development, acting
on film, music on film are some of them, that we did and we’ll organize
the next edition of KO:SH FILM FEST.

VR Experience

Last year, we launched the VR Competition for the first time in an Albanian
film festival. The young generation loved it, and this is a program
that we will continue to make it, making it bigger and bigger in time.

KO:SH FILM FEST ON TOUR

KO:SH FILM FEST ON TOUR, it’s our traveling cinema program that
happens before or after the main event. This year we’ve traveled in 7
cities in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia, where we screened a
selection of short films, the most awarded and loved by the public.

Korca Short Film Festival - Terms and Conditions

General Provisions
KO:SH Film Fest is an international short film festival taking place in Korca, Albania, organized by FIRST STEP ASSOCIATION & D’ART PRODUCTION.

Program

The Festival program consists of a competition and non competitive program:


1. International Competition
2. Documentary Competition
3. Student Competition
4. National Competition
5. Films for Kids (Out of Competition)

Conditions for submission

The films for the competition programs can be submitted by directors, producers, distributors, and national film authorities entitled and authorized for representation and submission of films.

Genres: Fiction, Documentary, Animation
Running Time: 1- 25 minutes
Prod. Year: After 1 July 2022
English subtitles burnt on.

Films that have been submitted to KO:SH Film Fest for consideration in previous years are not eligible.

ENTRY DEADLINES:

The extended deadline is on 30.08.2024, but we suggest to submit your movie as soon as possible.

KO:SH reserves the right to invite films outside the made outside specified deadlines.
The films must be submitted online through FilmFreeway platform.

Selection and Screenings

Festival director/Head Programmer selects the films for the official competition and official program. He/she also decides on the screening timetable.

Festival director selects the selectors for other special programs and focus programs.

The number of films in each program will depend on the running time of individual films.
Each selected film will be shown not more than two times during KO:SH. In case a film receives an award, it will be shown three more times together with other awarded films. Films will be shown with both English and Albanian subtitles.

Submitters of films selected for KO:SH Film Fest are obliged to inform KO:SH Film Fest about any screenings and broadcasting dates in Albania scheduled for a date prior to the end of Korca Short Film Fest. If any other screening/broadcasting event becomes known, the film accepted in competition, it can be immediately disqualified and excluded from the official program.

For the purpose of promotion of award-winning films/or films from the official program, KO:SH Film Fest may screen award-winning/or other films during KO:SH Film Fest on Tour.

Press Materials and Film File
In case of selection the following materials must be submitted to selection@koshfest.com

• HD File of the film
• a brief synopsis of the film in English
• at least 3 photographs from the film
• a film's dialogue list in English with time codes, if available
• the director's photos,
• promo material (press packages, posters, etc.)

KO:SH Film Fest is entitled to publish a trailer or use extracts from a film of up to 3 minutes of running time for promotional purposes.

In case additional and/or screening materials are not delivered by the deadline, KO:SH Film Festival reserves the right to exclude the film from the official program.

Accommodation and Accreditations

Subject to availability of funds, KO:SH Film Fest, may invite the director or a representative of a film and cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
