ThIs is the 10th year for the Sick Chick's Film Festival! While we screen films for the public, this is largely a filmmaker networking event where filmmakers come together to support each other and their work. We are all about showing love to these wonderful people. You won't find a lot of "celebrities" here because we only celebrate our ladies and their work. They are our stars. We accept short and feature films in one of the following genres: Horror, Sci Fi or Fantasy. Our emphasis is female filmmakers so we do require that at least one of the primary creative roles is filled by a woman. We will be showcasing work by some of the best indie filmmakers from NC and around the world.

  • Our "One Lonely Heart" cast and crew had a great time at SCFFF! Unfortunately we weren't able to stay for the entire event, as we had to travel to a different festival where another of our films was nominated. But we really enjoyed SCFFF and we love what they're doing to elevate women in film. We will definitely be attending next year!

A wonderful festival that was so incredibly kind and welcoming to us. Thank you for being so gracious and understanding about our limitations with attending, and awarding us such honors as Best Actor and Best Sci-Fi Film despite that! Thank you! <3

  • The Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival had some real highlights. The venue was neat, and the women running the festival were fantastic—responsive, warm, and a joy to meet. The festival itself screened phenomenal films by incredibly talented filmmakers. However, there’s a pretty significant downside: there were almost no audience members aside from a small group of filmmakers and a few friends or family. I’d highly recommend the festival focus on promoting the event better, even offering free tickets to the local college theater or film departments. Flying in from out of state to screen a film in an almost empty auditorium is a bit disheartening. I loved the Sick Chicks team and their curation, but the value of a festival screening drops when the audience is so small.
