The film was recently selected for the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2025, as part of a special program celebrating the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic relations.
His work is known for its distinctive fusion of realistic horror, psychological depth, and social commentary, gaining worldwide acclaim. This is evidenced by wins such as the Best Screenplay at the Anatomy Crime-Horror International Film Festival and Best Horror Short Film at Mexico's Stuff MX Film Festival.
His short horror script MSG, inspired by traditional East Asian rituals and food offerings, was selected as a finalist at top genre festivals including the Renegade Film Festival and A Night of Horror International Film Festival (as of Apr. 10, 2025).
Notably, MSG serves as the second act of his completed feature script Eumbok Restaurant—a suspense-horror story that reimagines ritual, consumption, and survival through a uniquely Korean lens.
In 2025, Son was invited to serve as a jury member for the International Short Film category at the Jaipur International Film Festival, affirming his standing in the global film community. He is also developing UNDER, an 8-part Korean psychological horror anthology series exploring modern fear, moral collapse, and urban disconnection.
