17th TRT International Documentary Awards

Since 2009, the TRT International Documentary Awards have been organized according to the global broadcasting mission of TRT, Türkiye's public broadcaster, to support international amateur and professional documentary filmmakers, provide a platform for documentaries from different countries to reach audiences, and create an environment where documentary filmmakers and industry professionals can come together to exchange ideas.
With the vision of TRT, a strong and international broadcasting brand, the festival’s influence expands each year. Prestigious productions, esteemed directors, producers, famous documentary presenters, and expert academics will participate in the 16th edition of the TRT International Documentary Awards this year.
Over the course of the 4-day event, the TRT International Documentary Awards, which enrich the documentary landscape in Türkiye and around the world, will present documentaries competing in various award categories from different countries. Masterclass events with directors will be held, and discussions, panels, and workshops on the present and future of documentary filmmaking will be organized.

The festival will be held in Istanbul from June 4-7, 2026. The event is open to the public and free of charge. In addition to special film screenings, workshops, talks, and panels, we are thrilled to see that the festival, with its vibrant Gala Night where awards will be presented to the winners, has earned its place among the world’s prestigious festivals.
