Pamela Kaval is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, producer, screenwriter, actor, director and writer based in New Zealand. Through her production company, Wildaval Productions, she has created 19 short films, with two more in pre-production — Garden Cops and Track. Garden Cops is being developed as a proof-of-concept short for both a feature film and television series.
Her latest project, The Taxi, directed by Paige Larianova and starring Joe Naufahu (Game of Thrones, Spartacus, My Life is Murder) and Kaval, has been submitted to major international festivals. Her films have received numerous awards for storytelling, acting, and production, with several titles also acquired for distribution.
Kaval’s work blends heart, humor, and social relevance, often weaving in environmental themes inspired by her background in environmental science. Her films span genres from comedy and satire to drama, mockumentary, and horror.
She also serves as Youth Program Manager for the Misty Flicks Film Festival and leads youth filmmaking workshops across New Zealand’s Waikato region. Before filmmaking, she worked as an environmental academic, editor, and park ranger, publishing over 100 works on sustainability and biodiversity. She is currently developing a young-adult novel represented by the Frances Plumpton Literary Agency.
