Director Biography - Paige Larianova, Kayla Cache

Hi! I’m Kayla Cache, and I’m 12 years old. I’m an aspiring director who loves bringing stories to life. I’ve solely directed and/or helped direct several films, including Camp Bloody Mary, The Break In, The Y.L.A. Virus, The Ivy Forest, Speech Day, and No Mother No Child No Cry. I’ve also acted in a TV show (Dear My Mother), music videos (Take Me Back, Instant Stimulation), and over 12 short films. I love acting, dancing, and storytelling, but directing is my passion. I’m always learning and excited to keep making films!

Director Statement

"The Y.L.A. Virus" was made by a group of 11- and 12-year-olds during a Youth Filmmakers Workshop in Hamilton, New Zealand. We had a hand in everything—crafting the story, picking the location, and shooting the film—while getting advice from professional filmmakers. A few of us, including me, stepped into directing roles to help bring the vision to life.

The film follows two girls who, in their quest for revenge, unintentionally release a paralyzing virus on their victims, leading to consequences they never saw coming.

It was such a fun and creative experience, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!"
