Hi! I’m Kayla Cache, and I’m 12 years old. I’m an aspiring director who loves bringing stories to life. I’ve solely directed and/or helped direct several films, including Camp Bloody Mary, The Break In, The Y.L.A. Virus, The Ivy Forest, Speech Day, and No Mother No Child No Cry. I’ve also acted in a TV show (Dear My Mother), music videos (Take Me Back, Instant Stimulation), and over 12 short films. I love acting, dancing, and storytelling, but directing is my passion. I’m always learning and excited to keep making films!
"The Ivy Forest" was created by a group of 11- and 12-year-olds during a Youth Filmmakers Workshop in Cambridge, New Zealand. We were hands-on with everything—developing the story, selecting the location, and filming—with support and guidance from professional filmmakers. Some of us, including myself, took on directing roles to bring our ideas to life.
The film tells the story of a group of boys who, cursed by a forest for their role in killing endangered species, become invisible. Their fate changes when a group of kids discovers a magical necklace that has the power to free them from the curse.
We had a great time working on this project and hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!
